2024 Field

People decide - I know that bothers you. It is what it is.

One thing I know, the clip of Desantis checking to see if its ok to raise his hand won't do him any favors. What a leader!!

thankfully we have a record of actions from his time as governor that displayed a backbone against your boy and the deep state

Did that include locking down and pushing the vax for everyone before he 'course corrected'?

I know exactly what you were doing - but you know exactly what you were doing by assuming massive haircuts for Twitter (again - I agree with your methdology) and assuming the reported number for the SB IS the number

only 0.3% of people have liked the video so maybe they didn't watch it or maybe the didn't like it

yes that includes his listening to Trump's White House... then realizing it was nonsense... opening up, opening schools, and getting blasted by Trump for doing so.

FWIW - I like DeSantis. But he’s run a pretty crappy campaign. He needed to pick a more consistent message on Trump than he has. I don’t think running a crappy campaign means he would be a bad president.

Agreed... he's tried to placate the cult too much and that has turned others off of him. I hope he realizes now there is persuading the cult.

Of course - He 'course corrected'. Just like he course corrected on his hand raise after checking the other answers.

And he will continue to drop as a result. The people decide the candidates. Not Ken Griffin.

He needed to take big swings on Trump especially his Covid record (since his Florida Covid response is the center point of his pitch),,, or not run this cylce. He was never going to chip away from Trump’s base by being nice to him.

Well he won't be handed a state on a thirty year track record of growth with a ruby red legislature.

They tested messaging to groups of republicans. 70% said "Trump Shutdowns" were lies.

And 90% thought Mitch McGary was a future all star and Jace Peterson was a 5 WAR 2B so what do they know :)

Poor Mitch - I know whats its like to delay your true potential because of the mary jane.

Low blow on Jace.

Either way - The majority of the country knows what happened during COVID despite the annoying Desantis influencer army talking points.

It's hard to know what would constitute a good campaign strategy. It seems to me there are three options:

1) Repudiation of very poorly chosen one and magaism (Christy, Hutchinson, Hurd)

2) Unquestioning allegiance to very poorly chosen one and magaism (Vivek)

3) Awkward straddles of various kinds (everyone else)

There are a lot of awkward details in option 3 (such as whether to promote the line that the various indictments against dear leader are political witch hunts)

There is only one correct answer in the minds of the people.

Of the straddlers Nikki Haley seems to be the one who has found a somewhat workable formula. To me she is one of the more talented people in the field. Burgum is also an interesting straddler. Don't know if either of them ever gets the necessary traction. The reality of the GOP requires some sort of straddle strategy trying to keep the base onside while not throwing away all chances at electability in the general election. Youngkin showed it can be done in a competitive state, though the political environment has shifted since 2021.

Nikki is clearly the most talented politician in this group. I think she’s got too much neo-con stink on her to really make a difference in a GOP primary, but I think she’d do really well in a general election.

Youngkin seems like he has no interest wading into these waters until 2028.

Problem is any criticism of Trump leads to his cult endlessly crying like huge babies about how offended they are
