Vivek is so obviously the smartest and most qualified on that stage. Nobody is even close to saying the things he is right now and all of it needs to be said aloud.
When you take that position I dont want to see you also complaining that the government is taking kids away from parents who refuse to get sex changes for their kids because they define it as abuse.

It is interesting to see who all of a sudden is all for the state overriding decisions that parents try to make in the best interests of their children with help and advice from medical professionals.
The line between parents’ rights and protecting kids from abuse is a nuanced and interesting debate. At least (R) is willing to have it…(D) won’t allow it.

eh see Newsom's veto message on a recent bill that involved this exact issue

I’m not sure I’d consider that taking a position in the debate on parents’ rights when it comes to trans issues - sounds like he’s saying there are already existing laws protecting children's welfare in these cases, and passing this particular bill could set a dangerous precedent for this exact strategy to be used against “vulnerable communities.”
Unless there’s another veto I didn’t see.
He also followed up the veto by signing the following:
Assembly Bill 5 sets timelines for implementing LGBTQ+ cultural competency training for public school teachers and staff
Senate Bill 857 creates an advisory task force to identify the needs of LGBTQ+ students and put supportive measures into force

AB 223 requires any petition for a change of gender and sex identifier by a minor to be kept confidential by the court
AB 760 requires public colleges and universities to update student records to reflect legally changed names and genders
AB 783 directs cities to advise applicants for business licenses that single-user restrooms must be labeled all-gender
SB 760 sets standards for all-gender restrooms in public and private K-12 schools
SB 372 requires licensing boards to update records to recognize legally changed names and genders
AB 994 assures that law enforcement uses arrestees’ chosen names and pronouns when posting information on social media, with some exceptions
