It is an attack on democracy.

But at the risk of being pedantic we have a constitutional republic not a democracy. The constitution has a number of undemocratic provisions, including barring naturalized citizens from running from the presidency.
 
since convictions are not required... the GOP needs to get to work... every state should have a case under this standard. Iran, the border, student debt forgiveness, Ukraine, China, on and on we go
