Then they're substituting one question for another. That's certainly possible.

But let's say Biden decides to drop out, Kamala is given some sort of golden parachute judge appointment to stay out of the way, and it's Newsom v Trump in November. Are we actually left with voters who would've showed up for the vegetable that is Biden if his name was still on the ballot, but decided to either sit it out or vote another way?

How do these centrist (D)'s look at Biden and think he's capable of keeping anything at bay?

I do agree that a Biden is probably their best chance to win. Kamala is less liked than Biden and Gavin, while younger and more popular than Biden overall, will find it impossible to win over the rust states with his liberal policies, at least in such a short amount of time. And Gavin losing to Trump now would torpedo his future Presidential hopes.


The wild card is Michelle Obama. She would pull the women vote in droves and likely the black vote as well. Trump would have a hard time debating her as well, given she has no former policy to attack. He would essentially have to attack her husband and the Democrat party as a whole.
 
Michelle Obama could probably win an election, but she’s expressed like a million times how she has no interest, and it’s not the “I prefer my meaningful work in [x]” denials but rather “I ****ing hate being in the White House” denials.

We are reminded daily that Biden can't draw a crowd, has no enthusiasm, is a walking corpse, while also being told that anyone else would somehow have less enthusiasm

The sad part is that might be true. National Dems who aren’t *strongly* left-leaning have largely lost the plot over the past 8 years. Too much attention has been spent getting sick burns on Trump and January 6th rioters that nobody is working to inspire or provide a vision for the nation. Republicans have this problem too, with the notable exception of Donald Trump.

The reason Obama’s campaign worked as well as it did was because he stuck to the rhetoric of change and hope. Even if you disagree with everything he said or did, you should be able to clearly see how his plan of attack on messaging was to strive for a better future for the people, and it was ****ing effective. Nobody on the left today can stay on message like he did and generally still does. Until someone in the party actually recognizes this, we’re stuck with bull**** like Biden and Newsom.

Let’s never forget that over a year ago I said sturg and his ilk would go from “Trump can’t win” to “of course anyone could beat Biden”.

Another real time call that has proven to be prescient.

Obama’s 2008 campaign is the gold standard for how to win an election. He didn’t even need to acknowledge John McCain as his opponent because he did such a great job staying on message. It’s quite remarkable how far (D) has fallen in this regard.

But Trump broke all their lies and now they have nothing left but quaroupling down.

I think this degradation really started with Hilary and the way she treated 2016 as her coronation that she was owed. But yeah, it really accelerated once Trump beat her and they spent the next 8 years clutching their pearls about it.

I remain steadfast in the belief that the GOP nominated the only person who could possibly lose to Biden.

You remain steadfast in Joe Biden being a political juggernaut who would wipe the floor with anyone besides the person he previously beat

Observers can decide which of these is closer to reality

Your big victory here hasn't happened. We do have Vivek, MAGA Mike Johnson, Trump be reinstalled in 2020, America orchestrating a terrorist attack on Russia, and hundreds more we can chat through if you'd like.

However, I am wrong a lot and don't consume my identity of being right against excel guy on a daily basis. It would be embarrassing for Trump or any republican to lose to the 82 year old corpse who has the lowest approval rating in history, but that possibility is on the table.

They are exactly the same. One just has much more coherence and doesn't end with "but you have to win elections"
