2024 Field

I don't know what to tell you. There's more access to food today than ever before in history. and inflation adjusted wages are substantially higher for all incomes since the 80s

But people on SNAP have exploded during that timeframe.

When you subsidize something, you get more of it. There are no exceptions to this

And when you take away their jobs and import tens of millions of low skilled labor depressing wages and opportunities it will also contribute.

It doesn't help that the left hasn't pushed accountability as well but to pretend that the above wasn't a big factor in entitlements exploding is whislting past the grave.

Pretty obvious the last bullet they had to get Trump out of the way was an actual bullet.

Yes I am not saying that there aren't other factors.I'm saying that federal programs are basically the worst way imaginable to tackle a problem.

When confronted with the vast issue of hunger I'm not sure another way exists.

Just need better people (Not leftists) running things.

That doesn't mean there won't be any waste. 100% efficiency is nice to 'strive' for but in reality it won't be close to that.

But the benefit of having people not starving in the streets far outweighs the costs of hte program.

Maybe you and I can afford gated communities with security but most Americans can't.

Do you agree or disagree with me that subsidizing things creates more of that thing?

Do you agree or disagree with me that subsidizing things creates more of that thing?

Is it creating more hunger or more people applying for benefits because they are hungry?

Do you think more people are hungry because of programs like SNAP?

I promise I will answer your question but I need to start with understanding if we agree on my position or not, which is that subsidizing things, creates more of that thing

I don't think the question 'Subsidizing things creates more of that thing' is specific enough to answer the question.

Thats why I countered with what I said.

Obviously subsidizing education created more college goers because the money was 'free'. So then my question to you is does SNAP programs create more hunger?

Yes, I believe SNAP programs creates more hunger

Yes, I believe SNAP programs creates more hunger

Well thats a challenging thing to prove or disprove.

My inclination is that it does not cause more hunger. Hunger is being caused my many other things (de-motivation a part of that but I believe you think its 100%).

I just think incentives drive all behavior.

When the fed provides a guarantee to food, there is no incentive for people to get their **** together and work for better things. Same thing with single parents - we give money for single parents, and lo and behold, we now have an explosion of children out of wedlock. And then of course this leads to more hunger. A vicious cycle

Single parent households are growing more because of cultural reaons I think personally but the subsidizing of single mother homes is a contributing factor.

Just like the de-motivation to work is real because of entitlements I think the big issue is lack of good jobs and depression of non-skilled labor wages.

Does Schiff understand how awful of a statement this is?

Schiff is supportive of coups?

Guys 81M people VOTED for Biden and they are just going to toss him to the side even though he can still effectively be the president?

This is their argument?

I agree there are multitudes of factors obviously. I just think our subsidizing exasperates everything

as an aside, I much prefer these types of back and forth where we can start from an agreement that I do not actively want people starving to death

And then they all taped pantyliners to their ears and

started chanting "Bring Home Common Sense."
