Haley is clearly positioning herself to be on the ticket. Trump also needs to look like he’s the clear front runner by attacking everyone before eventually “bringing the party together” by putting Haley on the ticket.

Trump and GOP strategists probably feel Haley being the former Governor of a Southern state + she’s a woman,, will help him edge out in competitive states like Georgia, North Carolina, Virginia in the General.

Almost all polls (those dirty data points of voter sentiment I know) are showing this massive realignment away from democrats but specific to Trump.
