my argument is the person directly in charge of the policy that were passed (which during covid, went against Trump's wishes), have a far more outsized impact on the political shift in the state, than the person who fled NY to live there and and tried to keep them locked down even longer

Trump receives 81.2% of the vote in the Florida primary where he was the only candidate running. Thats 200k voters who would rather cast their vote for 2 people not even in the race anymore. That cant be a good sign for him.

The 2020 primary was completely uncontested, and turnout was 10% higher, while occurring during the start of the covid panic
2024 was still contested (barely), and there were 10% less voters showing up. And Trump got 250K less votes. And no covid pandemic to suppress turnout
