I think there is feeling among centrist Democrats that Biden has done a good job keeping the progressive wing of the party in check, and that turning the party over to someone else may invite an ideological conflict within the party.
It’s hard to argue with your last sentence though. Whether it’s Biden or Harris on the ballot, Harris would be the one to finish the term.
Yeah, I think the drop off in support from Biden to Harris would be more minimal than Dems fear, but I’d imagine there’s a voter group that would jump ship for any change on the ballot due to less trust in the party’s direction. I don’t understand that voting group, but I believe in its existence. The real question to me is whether that group is larger than those that won’t vote for Biden but would vote for a Dem that isn’t old and feeble.
