President Joe Biden, facing a political crisis as Democrats question the viability of his campaign and mental fitness, will be put to the test on Thursday when he holds his first solo news conference of the year -- and the first since his debate two weeks ago.

The high-stakes moment -- which the White House on Thursday morning said is being moved back from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. ET -- is an opportunity for Biden to change the narrative after his poor debate performance triggered a drumbeat of concerns in his own party that he might be too weakened to win against Donald Trump this November.

—————

This is dumb. Biden potentially holding it together for one solo news conference is really going to convince someone he’s fit to hold this job for 4.5 more years? Against a mountain of evidence collected over years showing clear mental and physical decline? Come on now.

doubling down. too much media pressure

I don't follow all the polls, but the ones I've saw make it look like trump's disappearing act has this thing back a dead heat.

Dead heat?

Trump is sitting back and letting the Dems eat themselves. They are doing more damage with their inner- feuding than anything Trump could say. Essentially, the Dems do not have a clear leader to get behind at the moment. And with 116 days left to election, that's pretty alarming.

I don't follow this stuff as closely as yall, but...

4 polls since 7/5:
Trump +2
Tie
Trump +3
Biden +2

Joe Biden's gaffe could have been worse, he could have said,

"I’ve known Jeff Epstein for 15 years. Terrific guy. He’s a lot of fun

to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much

as I do, and many of them are on the younger side."

That's worse right ?

That's nationally, which isn't really that relevant overall. Even still, Trump holds an average lead of 2.2 in national polls.

Individual states, particularly in swing states, provide a more accurate view. Right now, Trump holds commanding leads (+4.5 or greater) in swing states like GA, AZ, NV, and NC. In PA, he's at +3 at the moment while also maintaining slight leads in MI and Wisconsin. And Trump is polling close to even in traditionally deep blue states like New Jersey, New Hampshire, and New Mexico (states that Biden won by double digits in 2020).

And of course this is without factoring in that Trump has performed significantly better than his poll numbers in each of the last 2 elections.

Pretty much everyone admits that if the election was held today, Trump would win pretty convincingly.

I have a hard time believing the guy that has members of his own party abandoning their support for him is somehow leading the race right now. Particularly when he is so far behind in the swing states he needs to win.
