2024 Field

So, just curious but is this similar to getting your daughter a sweetheart deal and monopoly on manufacturing cheap ass products in that same communist regime? Asking for a friend.

Sure, I disliked plenty of what Trump did. I've disliked anything that leads to offshoring for a long time. I'm the guy who wants a universal 200% import tariff on manufactured goods.

Right?

I forget most everyone that doesn’t down ballot vote D gets lumped together.

It’s lazy

But how will capitalism survive?

I'm not familiar with the others, but McCloskey shouldn't be on there. Another gimmick candidate like Joe the Plumber was a few years ago, except that Joe was probably more intelligent.

2024 field is an oxymoron. There isn’t a chance a Republican (or a Republican controlled house or senate) ever wins a major election again in this country for quite sometime. It doesn’t matter who the left chooses to run either. It’s a forgone conclusion the Republican party is on borrowed time.

Nah. There’s still a chance as long as the republican nominee can attract the undecideds. There’s is a large segment of people who May not like the gop, but they sure as hell aren’t big fans of the hard left.

I was told the same thing right up to the first week in November of 2016

These two parties are so awful, I can’t see either holding onto power indefinitely

All of these people entering the country are being allowed to because the administration knows how they will vote. There isn’t a ton of strong Republicans out there anymore. I think there is maybe 30 remaining in the senate. Many of their constituents are sick of their elected officials rolling over for the left. They are going to be losing a lot of votes because people will vote for someone else or just not vote.

The Biden administration says "hold my beer."

First my apologies Jaw, I was actually trying to get both your and thethe's post there together (especially his) but I guess tapate was right, I guess I was just being lazy. Speaking of tapate, maybe you can tell me how many of Trump's BS crap got called out by anyone other than the resident D's? How would you describe strongly disliking an elected official but never (or at least seldom) saying anything about it? I mentioned one act by the former president to one person (though to be fair I meant it to be 2). That's lumping all R's together? Seriously? Would it be unfair to suggest that the responses to my post (not by Jaw, he's been a totally cool guy and a gentleman about it) might be considered "circling the wagons"? Isn't that lumping all those who criticize an elected official together? Also, while I'm at it, isn't the automated "gag reflex" when it's perceived that one of your group (whomever or whatever group we're talking about) is being criticized to rush to their defense and proclaim how those doing the criticizing as bad, unfair, lazy, and so on, might possibly be at least the first cousin of "playing the victim card"?

OK you guys can carry on now. I'll just go back to the meme thread. Enjoy

I think a lot of what you're seeing is a reaction to both the media and online environments. The comparison of Covid coverage between Cuomo and DeSantis, looked at with the Covid stats between their states, is a fine exhibit of the media environment. The leftward bent of the Twitter community, the one way policing of tech companies, and the higher ratio of lefties than righties being active in online discussion, all combine to give a sense to any politically engaged righties that every flaw by someone on their side, especially Trump, has been covered ad nauseam.

I rarely visit and skim a couple of other forums that I used to be active in because it's literally a 50 or 100 to 1 ratio of left vs right. This place is more fun because the entire political spectrum is represented. It's still not as fun as it was prior to Trump and I'm honestly just sick of talking about him. We all know what his negatives were, most of us understand why he still got votes, several of us have explained why we held our nose to varying degrees to vote for him. There are over 500 elected politicians at the federal level who are doing plenty to screw things up now. I prefer to talk about them over a guy who will never hold office again.

All that said, Trump's election was due to limp wristed Republican politicians and the media and online environment. The Pubs aren't quite as limp wristed now, but the media and tech companies have basically injected steroids into the same environment we had before. The anger that elected Trump is a full blown rage now. That could have easily been prevented by more honesty and less bias.

I mean, you can do what you want but its not informed to just assume because people are conservative they are big Trump folks. I never voted for him, but I'm still conservative. As a person i can't stand him. I think his policy decisions were lambasted because mostly a biased media machine that got the ratings maven they craved to keep them from going out of business. Most of us excluding thethe have the common sense to say when and what we disagreed with him on (Far more variance than our local D's tbh).... Our resident D's are real silent on things not going so well and so far there is a lot to talk about. And what we learned from them last term was silence = being complicit. Because unless we condemned every individual hate crime before facts were known, we were Nazi racists.

You have to pay attention to the nuance, but its there. If thats how you want to be perceived as lazy then so be it. I'll note the posts as such, not pay them much mind and move on.

If you want to be involved and respected then chip in and pay attention. It reflects more on you than me. Finally, Don't go down the victim hole, no one here is crying and want anything in return.

Nothing personal at all meant by any of this. Just my .02 and I'd say the same to anyone.

I've been on record disagreeing with Trump on several issues.

I just know that he is our best hope to stop the color revolution.
