Who shut them down?

But those things happened. What happens to those people without CARES act. You aren’t answering the question because it’ll destroy your main premise.

President Fauci shut them down

i am answering your question. I reject the notion that I must accept a specific policy disaster and the address the second.

The correct answer was to not shut down the economy, which Trump bragged about doing.

So you think the world would have went on as normal when people thought there was a virus with a 1-2% IFR? Just want to see how stupid you actually are here.

Your words were not “caused 25% inflation” as a result of the CARES Act?

you're really leaning into these semantics now aren't you.

"you said it was 6 weeks ago and it was actually 6.5!"

if it makes you happy... i'll adjust my words so the slow bus can follow along.

the CARES Act is not 100% of the reason we have the infaltion we are seeing today... it is just a major portion of it. Economics are complicated though so I won't be able to put a % for you. would hate to be off by 1 point and be accused as a liar

Can you also show me the part of the constitution that gives the executive branch the power to shut down intra and interstate commerce? Then show me specific actions taken by the trump administration that did so?

If this was your original point I would have still argued it but at least it’s closer to the truth then your original point which you know you were making in full time with a complete bad faith effort.

But you’re only changing your position because I beat you down and embarrassed you with your lack of fundamental knowledge.

i think the US would have got back to normal pretty darn fast if they werent tryanically forced into their homes for months.

We see this with Florida and Texas vs NY and California... the economic recovery was much faster there and their unemployment is about half in the states that opened up sooner.

It would have been a tough economic time... those happen from time to time... the answer isn't to just hand out Biden bucks to for people to stay at home.

Yes they economy would have recovered without the shutdown over time. In the meantime millions of working class families would have resorted to desperate measures while you’d be comfortably on a laptop with your doctor wife’s salary as well.

This is why idiot chamber of commerce folk have no understanding of the electorate any more.

Actually my original point was the CARES Act cost trump the election due to the mail in voting... but it's been fun seeing how economically illiterate you are again

But you’re only changing your position because I beat you down and embarrassed you with your lack of fundamental knowledge.

LOL is appropriate because I am actually laughing out loud

(and also havent changed my position... ill just have to remember that you're very particular about semantics and specifics going forward... except when it comes to Steve Bannon)

If you think the $1200 stimulus checks were a better benefit than 25% inflation in 3 years... we'll just have to agree to disagree.

just like with SS... you want to live in quick fixes and fairy tales. Sometimes hard decisions must be made, and people will struggle... the better policy is take the pain and create long term solutions... this is your argument for more abortion today so im not sure why it doesn't carry over to economics

and btw my wife didn't start making her big $$$ until July of 2022 so ol sturgy has been carrying the load for a while. nice to have a break!

Sure you didn’t with a clear mind say the CARES act caused 25% inflation just 1 hour ago.

1200 stimulus checks were absolutely better for those families that were about to have no food to eat. Are you claiming otherwise

“Hard decisions” have to be made said by someone who wouldn’t have to suffer from those choices. Fitting.

Yes because they have lost far more than $1200 in buying power every year until they are dead

But they are alive now? How would they have fed their families for the months of April-July when global demand dropped and therefore their jobs dissapeared?

Oh interesting how many people do you estimate the stimulus checks saved from death?

(If you give me an incorrect number I will say that you lied)

BTW

"Inflation raised spending by $433 a month for the average household, according to a Moody's analysis of the October 2022 consumer price index"

Let's see that's $5,196 per year... every year... and that is if inflation never rises again

I have no clue of the exact number because the exact number is never known. The “right” number is just one generated from models based on readily available economic data.

The reality is that there were far too many that action had to be taken. I guess sturg is ok with just letting these families die? What’s your solution under real world circumstances that doesn’t result in killing/starving them? COVID was not just a normal annual or seasonal economic event and pretending it was is laughable.

Ive told you my solution multiple times.

Your boy fired those families then sent them pithy checks to keep them happy

Ok - So your next argument, now that we've moved past this last one on attribution of the CARES Act to current inflation levels, is that Trump is solely responsible for these working class families losing their livelihood all of a sudden overnight?
