2025-2026 offseason thread

Look, if there's one thing the history of Major League Baseball has taught us, it's that owners deeply care about the health of the sport and never pursue policies aimed solely at reducing the amount they have to spend on player salaries. That is never their motivation.

the players losing the PR war doesn't matter, without them there is no MLB

and frankly they lost the PR war a long time ago, it's insane the mental gymnastics the average fan will do to avoid blaming owners for underspending
The bottom feeders deserve all the blame that they routinely get. What mental gymnastics are you referring to? Miami, Pittsburgh, A’s etc get meme’d constantly.

No one cares what percentage of money the billionaires or the millionaires get. They care about having a level playing field. A salary cap with a salary floor creates that (or at least creates the perception of that). The owners clearly sense that they have a case that will stand up to public scrutiny.

I’m happy players are making their money, but it’s ridiculous that one team can spend $120m on Kyle Tucker (a great player who isn’t even close to being a top 10 player). If losing games meant that we got a salary cap/floor out of it, so be it.

Looking at fangraphs depth chart, they have our top 4 relievers ranked this way...

Iggy #16
Saurez #3
Lee #66
Kenley #86

That's pretty strong
someone might want to look at Kinley's BAbip while in ATL, then re-rank those relievers... So let me re-rank Iggy/Saurez tier 1... Lee tier 2.. Bummer/Kinley doesn't make my eyes bleed.. everyone else, hold your nuts.

If we could get proper revenue sharing on board and have teams actually being forced to use that revenue sharing, I think they would.
Ok but what does that look like? I think it’s gonna be hard enough to develop a model that the owners will agree to much less the players

NC is purely a DH versus LHP. Some bottom feeder will snag him and use him a bit more in hopes to trade him at the deadline. She should be a brave within a day. Except AA wouldn’t trade him because he made a commitment to him
