2025-2026 offseason thread

Pivoting a bit here, we have got to address the elephant in the room regarding Ozzie. While we should probably let him walk, I just highly doubt AA is gonna let him walk over a difference of 3 million. I assume the thought process is that full off-season of rest will allow Ozzie to regain strength and get back to some sort of semblance of the hitter he was prior to 2025. But if that the the bet we are making, we need to have insurance. WIlli Castro or Miguel Rojas as a super sub type of player needs to happen. If Ozzie continues to struggle, you replace him with Rojas/Castro. If he bounces back, you still have these available to play all over the place and give rest to Acuna, Ozzie, Riley and whoever plays SS
There's no decision to be made regarding Albies. It would cost more to get a replacement bench player then to just keep Albies.

Sign Bichette and if Albies doesn't improve you can always move BB over and plug in Allen at SS

If it were that simple. The problem with bringing Ozzie back is they won't sit hit no matter how horrible he is

I'm of the opinion that I don't bring Marcell back. If the team is serious about keeping Murphy this offseason, we really need to the DH spot to rotate between one of the catchers/Acuna and maybe Riley at this point since he's been injured more frequently.

Having a DH only like Ozuna is really hurting the development of Drake right now since he can't get consistent at-bats. Of course, a better manager would find a way for Drake to get 24-28 at-bats a week instead of the 12-15 we're going to see from here on out.

That's why I like Bellinger. He can play all 3 OF spots and backup 1b. We need to be more versatile. He just turned 30 but he could probably be had on a 3 year or 4 year deal. I would move Heaven and earth to move Profar. I'd eat half his contract and somebody would bite. Then see if the Rangers would do a Murphy for Walcott swap. I'd even add another piece to get it done. So we'd be swapping Profar with Bellinger and Murphy for our SS of the future while shedding 23 million in the process to put into pitching or DH.

Bummer isn't a poor option for 2026 because his 2023 was controversially good or bad.

He's a bad option for 2026 because his K rate is 8.82 in 2025, and that's a terrible number for a BP arm.

Unfortunately, he was extended to decrease his cap hit last year, and that had to happen because AA didn't have any money to spend on anything. He didn't have any money because he had to duck under the tax cap.

Bellinger fits pretty well, but his value depends on having a manager capable of leveraging his versatility. Needless to say, Snit is incapable of leveraging a player like Bellinger to get maximum value for the entire roster.

There will have to be a new manager in place next season. If not then 2026 is gonna be a repeat and AA is probably looking for another job.

Bellinger is hitting .296/.344/.571 with 16 homers in 256 at bats at home where lefties hit 26% more homers than the average park. He is hitting .239/.303/.398 on the road with 6 homers in 225 at bats. If you want to be picking in the top 10 next year then he is your guy. He isnt a bad player but he will want to be paid like a very good player and has an agent who will want him to be paid like he is the second coming of Honus Wagner. There are cheaper ways to shoot ourselves in the foot.

while I am not a huge Belli fan, wouldn't the chop house also be a good place for lefties to hit?

Truist is 6% better for LH homers and Yankee field is 21%. The issue isnt I dont want Bellinger its that I dont want him for what he will get paid. I advocated for getting him in the last offseason.

I am picking up what you are putting down.. wasn't sure where Truist ranked.

is BorASS his agent?

Yeah, whatever contract he signs will be designed to screw the team. Unless he gets ridiculously overpaid he will want opt outs. I think 6 years 150 million is what he will get. Probably from the Yankees. Borass will probably hold out asking for 10 years 300 million. Thats not a joke.

Tucker only has 18 homes and hitting 265. No way he will get 350 million next year. If he does then good luck to whoever gives it to him. I would be all over him for less than 350 though

F that. Tucker is an elite player in his prime, and would fit this team perfectly. He’ll put up a 5+ WAR season this year in a down year. There’s no reason not to blow past the CBB threshold in the off-season to get him. At worst we’re going to be paying for his decline years in a rebuilding phase, which is ideally when you want to be hamstrung with contracts.

He's gone nearly a month without a homer. And before that homer he had gone nearly as long since his previous one. He's been bad for about a month and a half now, but I would expect he'll get hot before long.

Yeah he's the dude you go get. He'll get paid but not this 400 number people are throwing out unless somebody gets desperate and offers him 12 years. Some people don't see us spending much but I think they've been waiting for this offseason to get certain guys and go over the threshold by quite a bit.

A little bit of speculation the DBags might be open to trading Marte. He is locked up long term on reasonable contract so he is exactly what we are looking for. I would think Albies would be a part of any trade. Arizona has the third best offensive park by park factor so that might be what Ozzie needs to get it going. His low salary and potential to raise his stock exponentially with a few good months make him an attractive trade option imo. After that who knows. Probably ask for Albies, Caminiti, and more.

I’m beginning to have a sneaking suspicion that this dude is a giant pussy.
