I wouldn't be upset with working a cheaper AAV 2 year deal to let the prospect SS work themselves out. maybe even a nice team option for a 3rd year just in case the Braves need a 2B as well. He's not turning that option down. They could work out a cheaper 2 year deal. I think SS is set now for next year which makes his job a lot easier in the offseason.
I don't see why not since it would make him a free agent. But I'm not 100% sure on that. Can you make a QO to a player that refuses an option?
I hadn't thought about that, but it technically was a waiver claim and not a trade. Can you get a QO if you were a waiver claim? I can't imagine that situation has ever come up during the QO era (and almost certainly won't come up here), but it's an interesting question.I'm not sure on the QO offer since he was traded here and would have less than a year service time on the team.
Yea any QO action would be after next year, because of the team change this season.I'm not sure on the QO offer since he was traded here and would have less than a year service time on the team.
This is a very good take, and explains how the Braves can have a bench that's actually competent in 2026.No discussion of Brujan at all.
He is not a world class player, but seems to be a solid defender who can play several positions and is a better hitter than Nick. I love Nick’s glove, but I don’t see a lot of dropoff from him to Vidal, and the additional position flexibility is valuable.
I suspect that both will be in ST with an opportunity to fight for the backup IF spot on the bench.
Then there is also Nacho who probably isn’t a starter unless either Riley or Ozzie is not available. What do you do with him?
Lots of good, but not good enough to play every day type guys fighting for a very limited number of roster spots.
Does seem to suggest a stronger bench than this year, especially with Fraley and Eli waiting in the background looking for a spot.
And if we do keep Kim next year and having some back issues Castro could play for an extended time and not kill you with the bat.I agree on Castro. A modern manager could put him to good use.
The Rays REALLY didn't want to pay that 26 optionYeah, it’s rare players good enough to have a QO attached are available on the waiver wire.
