God help us our GM wants to DH the sub .200 batting average defensive catcher. Can we get a designated GM. Ours is drunk.
I think rotating him through DH and COF while giving him a day off every week or 2 would keep him healthy. Most teams don't have 4 good OF to rotate like that. I'd have a deadline in place on Kim. If he has t signed by the WM I'd make a trade.Also the DL.
And you could get a valuable piece back for him.If the Braves have so many holes and only $50m or so to fill them, then I don’t understand the point of carrying a $15m catcher. That money would be better spent elsewhere
Love Murphy, but between the bullpen, SP, and SS, not sure 50M can add what is needed there. A top tier SP is costing 25-30+M, a closer is costing in the realm of 13-15, and a shortstop is at 15. McGuirk did say he wants the Braves in the top 5 of payroll so maybe AA has more to spend than we thought.If the Braves have so many holes and only $50m or so to fill them, then I don’t understand the point of carrying a $15m catcher. I still think we line up with the Cardinals best. Not sure what it would take for Gray, Winn, and Donovan. Lopez, Owen Murphy, and Nacho with another lower prospect thrown in?
I think we're good with either of those trades. We fill more holes with the Cardinals deal but Buxton could be a game changer and I trust Ryan more than I do Gray and would like to extend Ryan.After seeing the Buck news overnight, I think they need to push hard for Buxton and Ryan or Lopez. Yes, it’ll be expensive, but they’ve got an extra pick and enough money to replenish some high-end depth quickly while still having plenty of "financial flexibility."
I’d still be more than happy with Gray and Winn and/or Donovan.
I don't see that many holes. I'm not sold on Ozzie and Harris, but AA seems to be. Basically need a starter, 2 good pen arms, SS, some bench guys.If the Braves have so many holes and only $50m or so to fill them, then I don’t understand the point of carrying a $15m catcher. You'll have to trade for a cheaper SS and then you still need to replace the DH production. I'm with you though that an expensive C is a luxury.Starter -> 25m
SS -> 20m
2 BP arms -> 15m
Some bench guys -> 5m
That’s $65m (and that’s without addressing OF adequately imo) so where you cutting back if you need to squeeze this into $50m?
Just saying the math becomes a lot easier if we sacrifice expensive catcher depth.
well it certainly would have helped if said catcher was healthy like uhhhh at the last trade deadlineStarter -> 25m

Buxton is 31 and has long list of injuries. And his contract (while below market) isn't exactly dirt cheap. He isn't going to command the sort of massive haul you think. Someone like Ritchie or Owen could easily headline a package for him.It would hurt a lot. If we want depth we need to not trade our best prospects.
Murphy is fine to DH once a week or so. He should not be our primary DH however. Neither should Drake.God help us our GM wants to DH the sub .200 batting average defensive catcher. Can we get a designated GM. Ours is drunk.
I think you can do SS and SP, but one would have to be via trade. Both in the FA market would be costly to say the least.If the choice is Buxton or a quality SS or starting pitcher, give me the SS or starting pitcher.
I don't think that's a choice that needs to be made. If they trade for Buck, they'll have additional flexibility for either or both of those positions.If the choice is Buxton or a quality SS or starting pitcher, give me the SS or starting pitcher.
Yup, Buxton will be expensive but not extremely rich. Now, adding Ryan would change that. He'd command a tonBuxton is 31 and has long list of injuries.
