2025-2026 offseason thread

AA is going to trade for Jordan Lawlar, isn’t he?
Is there any speculation that he's available or are you just shooting in the dark?

I've mentioned him several times before. DBacks need pitching. We have it in droves. And Nacho could be a nice fill in for them at 3b on the cheap.

I don't know what a trade looks like, but I think we match up well on paper.

They lost Burnes to TJ and Gallen and Kelly are both FA so they definitely need pitching.

They said they’re willing to trade him for MLB starting pitching. So, I’m not sure we match up well in that case.

Did someone just say the Braves “have pitching in droves”? The same Braves team that just finished #23 in pitching WAR?
Clearly they were talking about young pitchers who are ready or near ready for a shot at the majors. Certainly, not all will succeed, but a few will.

Most (not all) potential trade partners will be interested in those pitching prospects.

They also have a few guys like Elder and Carrasco who would, believe it or not, be upgrades for a few teams.

No one is trading for Elder and especially not Carrasco.

If they want MLB starting pitching, only Sale, Strider, Schwellenbach, and maybe Waldrep fit that. Ritchie and Murphy have never seen the bigs.
Waldrep would be the only one they'd probably trade and that's probably who the Dbacks would want. Richie is really close but I'd rather keep him if we had to choose between him and Waldrep.

We’ve been talking about some sort of Donovan plus Gray package, but think about that from the Cards perspective. When the Braves were rebuilding, would you package someone like Prado with an underwater contract? Or would you maximize the prospect return for Prado, and then use some cash you wouldn’t be spending to contend anyways to pay down Gray and get a better return?

Every single one of us would use our own cash to increase the prospect return, and I expect the Cards to do the same.

Way to respond to the afterthought of the post and ignore the meat.

The post was not about Elder and Carrasco… but I think you already knew that 😀
Irrelevant. Suggesting that any team would be interested in Elder or Carrasco as part of a trade for a premium player is ludicrous, regardless of where in the post it is presented.
