2025-2026 offseason thread

Imagine the thump in this lineup with Schwarber. And we could have Angel Hernandez Bobblehead Day every July 4th with fireworks.

I also know Alonso is receiving interest as a DH. Like him or not, the offensive numbers are there.

Acuña RF
Schwarber/Alonso DH
Riley 3B
Olson 1B
Baldwin/Murphy C
Profar LF
Albies 2B
Harris CF
Dubon SS

All of that being said, it would have to be a truly elite DH for me to want one because it totally screws flexibility. I'm not sure it's worth it whatsoever.

I have a feeling it's just leverage, but Ken Rosenthal is reporting the Braves are more interested in signing an elite DH than a SS unless something materializes quickly.
I swear, if AAs signs Schwarber I will lose my shit and not in a good way. The last thing we need is to pay a bat only player a huge contract after a career year. He's a been a mediocre DH/LFer virtually every year until the last 2 years. His contact rates are normally non existent.

Just resign Ozuna for like 8 million if you want a bat only player. He was an elite hitter before the hip injury. There is a decent shot he can get somewhere close to that again.

Can't imagine we'd in on Alonso. Don't think the clubhouse is a fan of the guy.

Did a quick photoshop of the Braves big FA signing for DH:

Schwarber and Bellinger will probably cost around the same and the decision should be easy between the 2. 1 can play multiple positions and the other can't at all. Bassitt doesn't have a QO and would be a good bet. What's the projection he gets?

Bellinger at around $27M would be way more useful. I've said for months, just like many of you, that a versatile outfielder who can hit and rotate in and out of the DH position with Ronnie and Profar would be extremely valuable.

The roster is actually pretty close to full with the payroll at $214M. If Lopez slides into the rotation, it and the BP are full of MLB contracts. The only holes are DH and bench, and if they really plan on rotating the catchers through DH the only holes are on the bench. At the very least AA needs a real MLB bat and a real MLB SP who isn't a lock to be injured. I'm willing to bet anyone anything that AA won't be giving up that pick for a QO FA, and I hope he doesn't.

Snitker was Problem #1, but if Anthopoulos throws big money at a DH I'm going to classify him as Problem #1A. The team needs some flexibility and cycling guys through the DH position is a way to do that. If you sign a DH and don't trade Murphy, you're wasting money there as well. Get a legit OF and cycle Profar, Acuna, and Murphy through as DH of the Day. I've always gotten the feeling that Anthopoulos wants to make the Braves resemble the Blue Jays' teams he constructed and just beat the opposition to death with the long ball.

Yeah I've said it to that AA isn't giving up a pick with the extra pick and bonus pool money. Bassitt, Kim or Buxton and another good bullpen arm would be great.
