Fitts might have been a 50 FV a while ago. But he certainly isn't now. He'll be 26 in 3 weeks and he's been trending down for 2 straight seasons.

But I would agree that the Cards made out well overall.

Fitts is what they refer to as a "post hype prosect", meaning he was a 50, flopped early at the MLB level, but still has a lot of potential for teams who think they can adjust what went wrong at the MLB level. Elder is not a fair comp at all.

If we want to get pedantic, maybe we could describe the package for Gray as the equivalent of Fuentes + pre-resurgence Waldrep

Still probably more than most folks on this board would've been comfortable with

Yeah, that's reasonable, though I'd argue Waldrep still had quite a bit more hype left than Fitts does.

We don't have a lot of ammo to make deals like the Cards/Red Sox deal. Unless Anthopoulos signs a couple of veteran pitchers, he can't afford to deplete the depth in the upper minors regardless of whether they are 45s.
 
This board is going to absolutely melt down if the Braves ever go all in and sign someone of Joe Ryan or Pablo Lopez's caliber. Not saying it wouldn't be a great move, but the cost is going to shock people. Quality MLB pitching is simply expensive.

That's fair. Elder has been in the league 3 years now so there isn't much of a mystery to him. But Fitz is certainly not a super valuable as a 26 year old pitcher that hasn't found any success in the majors. Maybe Kyle Wright circa 2021 is a slightly better comp. And no one would have lamented trading Kyle Wright at that time.
 
Also, Fangraphs has not updated their rankings. So to say Atl has no 50 FV prospects is not an accurate assessment.

Cam was a 45+ FV this time last year. Am I to believe a year after Cam dominated A ball at only 18 that he hasn't improved upon that rating? Fuentes was a 50 FV a year ago, and flew through the minors and made it to the majors after barely turning 20. Both guys will likely appear in several top 100 prospects this off-season.

Unless Bassitt goes back to the Blue Jays, I would admittedly be a little shocked if he's not a Brave come Opening Day. It just makes so much sense for both sides.

Sign Bassitt, trade for Buxton, and get another good BP arm and we could be done. I'd rather get another SS and let Dubon be a super sub but if the choice is run with what we have at DH and have Kim or run with Dubon and have Buxton I'll take the last option. Buxton would be insurance in case an OF goes down for a while or Harris sucks again.

Ok, you’ve lost the point of the discussion.

If AA had traded Cam plus Didier for 1 year of Gray at $21M, I don’t think we would have been all that happy.

Of the choice ends up being buxton or Kim I think everyone prefers buxton…depending on the trade of course.
