Everyone was livid last year because AA refused to address depth. He's done a nice job of doing that so far. Obviously, it's not high-end depth, but it's tough to complain about cheap-as-dirt split contracts like this. That doesn't make me feel any better about payroll "going up"
His stuff is in clear decline. The slider is not even a useable pitch anymore.Seems like people forget how great Iglesias has been. He had a rough start to last year. Otherwise he’s been ridiculously reliable, consistent, and healthy. I’m personally averse to relievers who walk tons of guys on the reg as well.
Thanks. I know he debuted early in 2019. I guess the delayed call up would have bought the Braves an additional year.According to fangraphs Riley now has 6.138 years of service time. So he actually would be hitting the FA market this offseason without the extension.
That was my first thought. Bummer, Iglesias, and Lopez will be off the books after this coming year so the money will be there. It's odd unless AA saw something we haven't.If we’re not doing that when we have a clear need for high leverage arms in the bullpen, that doesn’t bode well for the payroll outlook.
Somehow a bunch of contenders missed this memo. I’ll call LumbergHis stuff is in clear decline. The slider is not even a useable pitch anymore.
I don't think we saw where he officially said it but they said he might. Buxton, Kim, and Bassitt. We can live with the bullpen with Lopez and Holmes out there and hopefully Jimenez at some point. Also, I saw Passan said earlier that Buxton is now officially willing to waive his no-trade clause. Did I miss that before? If so, that's huge...
Passan said he's willing to waive it for Atlanta, among other teams. But listed the Braves first, so that's a strong confirmation.I don't think we saw where he officially said it but they said he might. Buxton, Kim, and Bassitt. I was surprised to see Young non-tendered a couple weeks ago, so pretty stoked about this (in a small move kinda way). Recovering from TJ, but expected to be ready before mid-season. He's gonna frustrate you with BBs a bit, but has been quite effective against LHH.
No, no. I like Iglesias. I’m saying we should’ve signed both.Seems like people forget how great Iglesias has been. He had a rough start to last year. Otherwise he’s been ridiculously reliable, consistent, and healthy. I’m personally averse to relievers who walk tons of guys on the reg as well.
how can that be determined already. Wouldn't QO compensation move that pick around?Oh wow, the Drake pick will be No. 26, not No. 28.
Not sure, but it has been announced:how can that be determined already. Wouldn't QO compensation move that pick around?

That 26th spot instead of 28th means an extra $200k of bonus money, too. That announcement also means our 2nd rounder will officially be 48 overall, which was worth more than $2 million last year.
One week until the lottery!
Very good point. This is the EXACT type of depth the Braves didn't have last year, so as long as these additions are depth and not primary pieces, it's hard not to like them.Everyone was livid last year because AA refused to address depth. But yeah, spend money on some elite guys dammit lol
