Well Garcia is a much better defender than Castellanos. Looks like they’ll be going with Crawford in CF which is questionable. But Marsh should be a good defensive LF.

I don't know about that. He barely played the field this year and was pretty brutal in 2024. He might be better than Castellanos in the field, but he's still pretty awful.

FWIW, Statcast has rated Garcia very well defensively the last few years.

OOA had him at -12 in 2024. He didn't have enough data in 2025 to make any conclusions.

Garcia was +16 DRS last year (2024 is the only year he has been negative at -5). Castellanos was at -11. Let’s live in reality.

That was a good listen. AA wants a TOR starter and not just some guy. A top 3 playoff starter would bump Strider or Schwellenbach down in favor of that guy so that's a good sign he's aiming high.

Either it means the contract offer had significant incentives baked in or Rosenthal is saying that the A's might have been willing to offer even more if Kim negotiated with them.

Leads me back to question, what’s his contract upside? Obviously 3/$28m is low AAV but is he going to get much more than $28m on his next contract, even if he has a good year? A good year will get him a QO attached which likely lessens the amount a team is willing to pay.

Probably have one of them play 2B.

They were probably gonna move Kim to 2b. If Lim has a bad season or gets hurt again then we won't offer a QO probably and he won't get another long term deal. He'll be motivated this year for sure.
