I'm going to be livid if AA doesn't make a move for a quality arm TODAY. I know that's intense, but it would be egregious. There's no doubt another pitcher gets injured between now and the regular season.

He should have ponied up earlier and didn't. Just fucking do it, dude.

Well, we don't have all his info. Maybe he knows Lopez is done, SS#1 will never throw hard again, etc. I mean, if the SSs are done for the season, what does bassitt accomplish?

Well, any hopes we had of AA pulling a fast one and trading for a TOR SP no one saw coming is gone. The asking price just doubled.

Schwelly is probably cooked. At least for this year anyway. Sad. We hardly knew ye.

While not a kiss of death per say, some of the more recent high profile pitchers with bone spurs in their elbows were Buehler, McCullers, and Bryce Miller. Miller is the only one that wasn't also recovering from TJS, but Miller was completely ineffective when he came off the IL last year.

Darvish also had bone spurs in 2023 and then after having an off-season to recover, had a strong 2024.

The one good thing for Schwelly is that his UCL is apparently fine, and the bone spurs issue is being caught early. Strider, for example, pitched with them for a long time before getting the brace.

Silver lining is we didn't give Schwellenbach an extension yet. I'm guessing JR Ritchie is gonna start the year in the rotation or try making a big trade for Ryan.

The issue is- and will be- none of those guys have near the ceiling SS did.

Hell he was one of the best pitchers in the NL last year.

It’s a major step down.
