2025-2026 offseason thread

We're gonna have the best trade deadline of all time when we make all these moves to remove guys from the DL that will be like trading for all stars.
Just in time for us to discuss why we should dismiss the concerns about their velo drop and poor results as they need to build themselves back up post surgery.

When Holmes is throwing 95 early in ST, it's good news. When Lopez is throwing 91, and they don't even want people to know Strider's velocity, it's no big deal. As usual, fans are listing out names of fringe MLB guys as if knowing how to spell their names make them better options. Gotta love the blind homer optimism of fans in spring!

Meanwhile, MLBTR has written multiple articles about the Braves rotation saying "AA is a fucking idiot for not addressing the rotation" without actually stating it. Very disappointing.

All AA had to do was just keep the core together that won the dam series..

funny thing..
if you take Meth head, Olson, Profar and Kim off the 2026 payroll

and add FF, Swanson, WC and Shae back on it, the Braves would have 12 million more dollars to play with this year. And a much better offensive team

So it was said 3 months recovery. Let's just make it 4 months, and set a target date of end of June/beginning on July.
it is assumed. no time line has been discussed. Anyone counting on them to provide any value in 2026 is naive.. would be great, but pitchers coming back from any arm procedure takes time and always comes with additional risks of set backs.. Guess we can all just use the AA strategy and hope for the best.

This. AA is straight trash.

This is so depressing

Personally, I think the tv deal is much bigger issue than most here. AA spent money early, and there's been nothing since the news of the braves breaking away from FanDuel.

Now that could make some sense especially considering the Braves are corporate run. It’s possible that AA was authorized to push up to tax 3 at the start of the offseason but after the news had to pivot to closer to the tax 2 line mid offseason. If that is what happened it also would not be to our benefit to let other teams know that was the case.

Wait, so the theory is now the team and front office had indication that this might happen, enough so, that they already started planning their own launch... but the financials suddenly caught them off guard.

Come on.. I think AA thinks he is the smartest guy in the room and is just painting himself into a corner before he finds out he is not. The dude was handed a core of winners and imported a bunch of losers and now doesn't have the plan or resources to fix it.

I think Anthopolous has his parameters for signing guys and he doesn't step outside of them.

That means he's generally not going to land the top guys. He then doesn't compound the error by overpaying for not great guys which is the really dumb thing to do.

Fan base that wants him to sell out is always going to be disappointed.

to my mind his big error was all the extensions that have reduced flexibility. To be fair, he's had extremely bad injury luck for players who were not past prime.

But we've see ln several iterations of the market not falling his way and it begs the question of whether he needs to game it out assuming that he's going to miss.

Some of the signings this year were getting the backup plans in place first.

I'd guess he really doesn't have much of a choice but to swing a trade at this point.
