2025-2026 offseason thread

I know there were a few good barrels against him, but did I read it right that James Karinchak averaged 95 with an average IVB of 20 inches? I don't want to overreact in the spring, but that's actually obscene. Strider's IVB on his fastball in 2023 was 18.4 lol

Still No,

Owners will lock out the players before a deal expires or the players go on strike before it happens because negotiations are a high stakes game of chicken.
The CBA officially expired in the previous off-season all of those times I mentioned. But they played without an agreement in place and set a deadline in the summer each of those times.

After the CBA expired on Dec. 31, 1993, the 1994 season began without a Basic Agreement in place.

Following the one-year extension, a new agreement could not be reached before Opening Day of the 2002 season. After playing for months without an agreement, the MLBPA set Aug. 30 as the deadline for a strike. With only hours to go before the first scheduled game that day and the season on the brink, a new four-year agreement was reached.

The decision to tank a season in the middle of it is what I’m taking issue with.

Strider pitches Monday. On a scale of laid back deester (0) and Matt and I in game threads (10), how much panic mode are you gonna be in with 93 mph fastballs?

In his first game? Not very concerned. But he definitely needs to live 96ish in the regular season unless his IVB is back around 18 for him to be a TOR guy.

Strider needs to be sitting upper 90s to be a TOR guy. If he’s not hitting mid-90s right now he probably won’t be upper 90s ever again. His velocity is critical to his success, and if he doesn’t have it his health doesn’t really matter.
