2025 Around The League Thread

Glasnow with shoulder discomfort. 2/3 of a billion dollars spent on their rotation (before factoring Ohtani). And they'll be buying pitching at the deadline again.

I'm curious how everyone’s feeling about this team now that we’re seemingly figuring our shit out. Since the 0-7 start, the boys are 12-8, the offense is playing way better, the bullpen has been better than I expected, and we can likely expect Ronnie and Strider back sometime in May.

At this point, I still think we’re looking at a 90-win team — and honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if we rip off a really strong May with the schedule getting a lot easier. I know there are still plenty of questions, but within the next three weeks, we could be rolling out a lineup and rotation like this:

Lineup:
Acuña RF
Verdugo LF
Riley 3B
Olson 1B
Ozuna DH
Murphy/Baldwin C
Harris CF
Albies 2B
Arcia/Allen SS

Rotation:
Sale
Strider
Schwellenbach
Holmes
AJSS/Elder

Definitely feels like things are trending up.

I might start trying White at 2nd or Short.. his bat is much better than Ozzie and Allen's bat. His defense is probably about equal to Ozzie at this point. He can sub both positions while also doing some subs for the OF as well.

injuries are the great equalizer... with Snell and now Glassnow hurting has to be frustrating for the Dodger$... They still have enough bullets to easily make the playoffs, but if those guys can't be healthy for the post season, then that is a big hit..

Wonder when Showhey will start throwing? Gotta think that is going to be a tough decision.. he will have to go down to the minors for some ramping up, which removes his bat from the lineup.

Speaking of injury luck

We gotta get the Phil’s medical staff over here. Those guys are living lucky
Every time a player of theirs gets hurt it’s for like 2-4 weeks tops. JT fucked up his knee last year - as a catcher - and was out like a month. Sanchez feels forearm tightness but is apparently totally fine.

The Mets have been really good, but it's big mirage. They have played the weakest schedule in the league thus far. They're pitching is performing way over it's head. They're SP's have given up a grand total of 6 HRs combined in 28 starts. Their entire pitching staff has a combined HR rate of .45, which is .27 points ahead of the next closest team at .75. In the last 10 years, no team has finished with a staff HR rate lower than .83. In other words, they are due some major regression soon. They schedule gets a lot tougher from here on out. 18 of their next 24 games come against AZ, Cubs, NYY, Boston, and LAD.

You mean to tell me that Griffin Canning isn’t an All-Star starter?

I would love to see some White at SS... although, Allen keeps hitting (albeit weak contact)... maybe we should use his good luck up until he stops hitting.
