2025 Around The League Thread

Baltimore had another catcher get hurt. Good time to put together a Murphy trade. If Snit is not going to use him, there is no point in him being on the team.

Rays catching situation is real bad. Murphy for Fairbanks. Murphy has 2 more years of team control so we should get more back too. Fills a big hole this year and next. If Reynaldo comes back as a reliever that would give us an elite duo out of the pen to end games and frees Lopez to be used in key points of the game without worrying about saves.

We have JJ next year to in the bullpen. I'd love to add Mason Miller this year or Helsey in the offseason to it also.

his fip is holding up right now.. but yeah, that jumped out at me as well.
Only because his HR rate is at an unsustainable .3 HR/9. That will undoubtedly change. His hits per 9 is at his career average, so no improvement there. And his GB rate is very poor.

So essentially he is allowing the most contact of his career. And the vast majority of that contact is in the air. That is a REALLY bad combination. To his credit, his EV's are pretty solid, but they are not really sustainable given how often he is allowing contact. If he were a knuckle ball pitcher, you could overlook that. But he isn't.

The best you can say is that he isn't walking anyone.

I would love Miller too but he just isnt being traded nor would I be interested in paying the price it would take. Jiminez is nice but we need to get back to having an elite bullpen again. We got a few intriguing guys in the minors that just need time like Lara. Fairbanks, JJ, Pierce and Bummer would all be free agents after 2026. They would combine to make 35 million. Along with getting Murphys contract off the books this completely changes the payroll situation. This is the kind of move that allows for signing Bichette AND Cease without pushing payroll to its limits.

Take a peep at PF's injury history when you get a chance. Not sure he has survived a full season.

It's the A's so he would definitely be available. He's having a down year by his standards so he might not be outrageous. He's elite and controllable and that's what they should be after. I do think they go hard after Bichette and Cease bc SS is a train wreck with no help coming anytime soon and they've been after Cease for a while now.

How is Gunnar Henderson getting so little votes in the all star game? He's 8th in SS in AL voting.

Because the O's are ass. He's been good but has also regressed heavily from last year. He's no longer one of the "talks of baseball" and being on a bad team means less exposure and with him being so young is easily forgotten about.

Jacob Wilson is essentially what Henderson was last year besides the A's being shitty. He's the new guy and playing well so he gets the attention.

What's really wild is how fast Acuna has jumped up in the voting while playing so few games. Really good chance he's starting in RF at the ASG.

He needs to be.

Okay. But was it actually a specific comment on his dead mother or was it just a typical momma joke from a fan who probably didn’t know his mother was deceased? Neither is right, but obviously one is a lot worse than the other.

No one is reporting on the specifics of the comment, they are just reporting on Marte’s reaction, and by doing are framing it like there was some sinister intent by the fan. I don’t approve either way, but I don’t think the fan should be vilified for simple trash talk that backfired. Now if it was specifically about his dead mother, than obviously that fan should be banned from attending games.
From what I gather, this went way beyond a “yo mama” joke. The way he reacted and the way Lovello and Perdomo were consoling him, this was a bad comment. I don’t think a fan get ejected if it wasn’t to that level

Mitch Keller does not move the needle for me at all. And his contract sucks. It's not super awful, but it's still under water.

I'd rather just bring Uncle Charlie back than trade for Keller.

Also Luis Robert and Harris are basically the same player at this point.

Yeah he's 4th now and closing in on Tucker. He will no doubt get in to the starting OF. The O's tried to extend Henderson long term in the offseason and he turned them down so that'll be something to watch bc if they try again and he says no then they may trade him and move Holliday back to SS.

Lock the fan in a room for 5 minutes with Marte. Sounds fair.
