2025 Around The League Thread

I think any trade we make early will be for a top bullpen arm or 2. Most of the ground work has probably been laid already for certain guys but they are just waiting to see if anybody comes in closer to the deadline with a better offer. Bautista and Bednar are 2 guys I hope we go after.

From what I gather, this went way beyond a “yo mama” joke. The way he reacted and the way Lovello and Perdomo were consoling him, this was a bad comment. I don’t think a fan get ejected if it wasn’t to that level
That’s the way it’s being framed but no one is confirming that’s what happened. Did you know his mother died? I doubt that’s common knowledge, especially for a White Sox fan who could care less about Ketel Marte.

If MLB banned the fan then they know what he said. He didn't just say yo mommas fat.
Or they don’t mind losing one fan and think the PR is a huge win, irrespective of what the fan actually said.

(Not defending personal attacks, btw—just always cynical about corporate motivations.)

I think you’re underestimating the idiocy of some people. I don’t know how the fan knew that his mother died in a car crash, but it takes a low piece of trash person to use it to as a way to talk trash. The fact of how the Diamondbacks and White Sox are reacting pretty much is confirmation

How is Gunnar Henderson getting so little votes in the all star game? He's 8th in SS in AL voting.
Gunnar started the season on the IL. When he returned after several weeks into the season, his numbers were mediocre for the first month or so back, contributing to the O's all-around disappointing season. The numbers are improving, but his power numbers are down. I imagine voters stopped caring regardless as too little too late for him and that team. Also, as Wupk noted, Jacob Wilson has been stealing the spotlight this year.

We have JJ next year to in the bullpen. I'd love to add Mason Miller this year or Helsey in the offseason to it also.
I don't know what to think about Mason Miller. I was a big fan last year, at least the first half. Then, he started getting hit around a bit. This year, I swear, every time I flip the channel over to the A's and he happens to be pitching, he's getting hit hard. Maybe his fastball is too flat or something. Anyway, I'm over him. Keep him away from the Braves. Iglesias is stressful enough.

Nah. You’re making assumptions based on how it’s being presented. I’m not so sure. You don’t know what Marte is going through or how he processes things. Sometimes small things can trigger episodes in people.

And obviously if the fan was intentionally using his dead mother as a way to get to him then he’s a low life. I never said otherwise, and in fact the opposite. But I’ve seen people saying some awful things about this fan in turn, including trying to get his personal information. All I’m saying is that maybe this fan doesn’t deserve all of that because we don’t know exactly what was said.

Would have to be a buy-low.

We may not know what was actually said because we weren’t there. But based on reactions after whatever was said, it had to have been pretty bad. The fact he was removed from the game and now is indefinitely suspended from attending any game, that’s the assumption we have to go by.

I mean the MLB is gonna protect their own no matter what. I don't think that by itself is indicative of anything. Fans have been banned for lesser things.

If he didn’t know, then he should not have gone that way. That’s the simple solution in all this. Better to be thought of being a fool than to open your mouth and erase all doubt.
