2025 Around The League Thread

Hate that for Wheeler. He's an outstanding pitcher who we should have signed years ago. Of course if we had, this probably would have happened to him right away.

MLB just continues to cut itself below the knees. Dodgers-Padres going back and forth. The one competitive division race. Two teams that thorougly dislike each other. And their Sunday game isn't being nationally televised.

Gotta get the 4th Red Sox-Yankees matchup in on Sunday Night Baseball. I hope Peacock actually features more teams when they produce their Sunday Night Baseball starting next year.

ESPN picked up Atlanta-Philadelphia a few months ago for Sunday Night Baseball next weekend. Milwaukee-Toronto is also next weekend. Views are all that matters, and I'm sure a bad Braves team vs. Philly would still outgain Toronto-Milwaukee.

Miami vs ND next Sunday night. I'll let yall watch the braves get massacred

I really wish we could dump Olson and move Riley to 1b (or potentially McCabe could be a 1b option). Not because I think Olson is bad. It's simply because we have him for 4 more years and he's likely to get a lot worse.

I dont understand why? You expect him to fall off at age 32? I wasnt a fan of him when we aquired him but I am more confident in him now than when we traded for him. And with all the injury problems the one guy who stays healthy we trade?

I would argue the decline has already began. It may not be a sharp fall like Ryan Howard, but I could easily see an Anthony Rizzo sort of decline for Olson where he's more of a 2ish WAR 1b. And that isn't worth 22 million per year.

Its not a crazy opinion. I just dont agree. He has actually exceeded my expectations for him so the last 4 years looks better now than it did at the time we signed it. We do need to turn some of the expensive and/or soon to be free agents into multiple cheap players from other teams. Olson just wouldnt be my first choice.

We've got so many holes to fill this offseason it's crazy. Trading Olson just makes another and a spot that doesn't need fixing with a guy that is actually durable which we severally lack. If we should look at trading anybody it would be Riley and that would another PR black eye.
