2025 Homerun Derby Thread

That swing off at the end of the all star game was pretty epic. I know boomers would have a melt down, but I’d love to see all tie games end that way.

oof... no thanks.. you are going to see teams carrying some beer league softball slugger just for the swing off..

beside you are allowing a team to decide a game without the other team having any defense. Name another sport, outside of golf, where the other opponent doesn't have some sort of input on deciding a game.

Yeah. Why can’t we just play fucking baseball anymore?

I don’t have a huge problem with them doing a swing off in an exhibition, but I’d also be fine with a tie. Who cares?
 
If Manfred were to implement swing offs, just go to an NHL overtime system with points. Each win gets 2 points, and if you lose in extras, you get 1 point. Losing outright in regulation is, of course, 0.

Here’s hoping it never comes to this.

I can see the appeal. It was different. But it would get old quick imo.
 
A shoot out in hockey is one of the most exciting moments in all sports. I’m sure when someone thought of it all the boomers back then cried about it and said “waaahh can’t they just play hockey? Wahhh”.

The same boomers whined about the pitch clock, and it’s the single best change to the game since the DH…which boomers also cried about.

Boomers cry about all change because boomers are always going to boomer.

This isn't a boomer thing. I enjoy innovations in the game.. but there has to be a line from being a MLB game and a Savanna Banana game..

I mean you could go full skills competition and have pitchers hit clay targets with a specific pitch.. most targets hit wins round.. then do a homerun contest, then do targets in the outfield that a ball has to land in... the final comp can be a throw from the outfield and has to hit a garbage can at home... team with the most points after the 4 rounds wins.
