Really? Can’t see a reason why the Braves didn’t give Soroka $10m? The whining is reaching insane levels

well coming from someone who insisted that Murphy was by far the best player in the trade, I can see how you can't see that Soroka's inputs after going into the pen actually showed everything he was doing was very real.. So if nothing else he was going to be a good high leverage reliever for 10 million over 1 year.. that is very low risk for a potential very big return in a position of great need for the Braves. But again, your player evaluation might not be that great.

I am just wondering, being so young, if he just takes some preemptive actions to deal with this and go ahead and get the arm amputated..

Amputation may be a bit extreme, but preemptively putting in a brace around the ligament carries no risk...so why not just stick it in there?

I mean, if it's good enough to guarantee Strider comes back as a fire breathing monster on the mound, surely it's good enough for a prospect.

2nd straight start for Lopez where he was not able to miss bats. hopefully just not feeling it yet.. AA failed to do anything to cover if one of these guys goes down.

TJ will in 3,2,1

I hope not.. He was throwing a lot, if not all fastballs.. 90/91 to start.. had it back to 94/95 when it started to get hit. you can take that in two ways.. working on something with the fastball grip/mechanics.. or something bothering him and he didn't want to torque the arm with sliders..

just as concerning.. Daysbel has been garbage thus far in spring.. Not a good sign with the pen already being so thin..

I’ve learned that if you simply list off names in the organization that means quality depth is present, no matter what the quality of the arms attached to those names actually possess.

Let’s try it…

I mean just look at this depth. Anderson, Holmes, AJSS, Waldrep. Then behind them it’s hackenbush, dalton and Macintosh. Look at talk those names!! The depth is absurd. This really is the 90s all over again!!

You mean hyperbole like calling my assessment of the team “doom casting”? I routinely claim this is a top 3 roster in the sport. Just like the FG article linked above, I point out the rotation is too much of a question mark for a team competing for a title, and some of these proposed “solutions” are not actual solutions.

So once again, it’s ok to criticize AA’s offseason as poor. It doesn’t mean the Braves suck. It doesn’t mean they are going to lose 80 games. All it means is this one single offseason was handled poorly. Seriously…it’s ok. You’re not a bad fan for admitting this one offseason was awful.

I agree. Bad offseason. Still a very good team and organization. It happens to even the best GMs and teams.

We better be prepared to get reemed in a trade if Lopez is out. Pablo Lopez, Cease, King, etc will cost a lot more if we are desperate.

Ahh yes coming from Mr crybaby, who certainly has never been wrong on a take. Whine more than my toddler tbh

A contending team wasn’t going to give $10m to a total question mark. If you can’t figure out a reason why a cash-strapped team wouldn’t give Soroka $10m, then cry on (as if you need to be asked)

Mr strawman alive and well. When you gotta resort to that..

Pointing out his velocity is down is not "flipping on Lopez".

Again, for the 54th time, it's ok to point out things that aren't roses and sunshine. It doesn't mean you hate the Braves. It doesn't mean you hate Lopez, want him traded, or want him sacrificed to the baseball gods.

All it means is his velocity was down, and that's not a good sign. He had multiple shoulder scares last year, so it's not outlandish to worry about potential shoulder issues for a guy who had shoulder issues after converting from the BP to the rotation.

Just because I don't bow at the alter of AA and can point out concerns that are of his own doing is not whining.. Soroka was an easy call for a team that is looking at significant starts from guys like Elder/Waldrep/Anderson/Holmes/AJSS.. Even if he couldn't be a starter, he showed over 30+ innings that he would be a very reliable reliever. Something the Braves also need. with his pedigree, that should be enough for a 10 million gamble.. there were other here who were calling to get him before he signed.

Even at Soroka's worst, he is better than Elder/Waldrep/Anderson and no more of a question mark than AJSS and Holmes mediocre savant data (that is advance stats, if you aren't sure)... If you need sunshine pumped up your ass the whole time, head over to reddit and join the circle jerk around the shrine of AA..
