2025 Trade Deadline Thread

That would be great, but even an elite GM ain't getting anything for Ozuna. I agree on Murphy. No chance in hell Tucker ends up here... cubs, dodgers, Red Sox, someone. I won't fault AA for that either bc we don't win those battles
What he can do though is get a competent manager and competent mlb bench players

Ozuna is going to get moved for a lottery ticket at worst. And if he was healthy and still hitting well he still wouldn't have brought back much more. Tucker was just an example. The team needs a quality OF hitter and rotate players through the DH spot.

And rh cf and MIF that can hit

I'd argue that Allen and Baldwin are competent bench players. Kelenic and White I think are quality 4th OFers. Even Verdugo if used strictly in a platoon is likely usefull. But the problem is those guys had been pushed to be starters and sometimes just goes south quick and changes need to be made. Teams just aren't going to have a whole bench full of players that can step in and play everyday for a long period of time and be good.

Braves aren't moving on from Albies or Harris this offseason. I would like to see a better hitter replace Allen and force him back as the backup SS. But he's the type of guy that is fine at SS due to his defense if the rest of the team is hitting. He's gonna have a 2 WAR season due to his defense.

I wasn't saying get those to replace them. I want them as insurance.

Right. The competent MLB bench players you are looking for are probably starting for someone else.

Bench players usually have one thing they are good at, and some weaknesses. Otherwise they wouldn’t be bench players.

I guess if you have the Dodgers budget, maybe you can find complete players for the bench, but not usually.

De la Cruz was platoon with Kelenic to open season. What a duo
Obviously the plan was for JK to play well enough to tread water for a little over a month until Acuna was ready. If he had simply played near 2024 levels, he would have palatable. Unfortunately he completely forgot the tiny amount of hitting knowledge that he actually had.

It's every year. Every season about now, the braves need starting pitching. Their offense used to be good enough to cover it up, but not the last 2 seasons. Then you move on to having a bench with literally no mlb players on the position side
Every team needs SP right now.

How many teams can you name that lost 4 of 5 OD starters? Legit question

Probably. But I didn't expect they would get much for Naylor. But Suarez is by far the best bat available and Kelly is probably the best pitcher available.

Suarez might bring back a 50 FV player. But Naylor does have better career numbers and more consistent than Suarez. Suarez does bring good defense though (usually). Kelly likely brings back a 50FV guy. Teams usually don't get a ton back for rentals anymore.

I’m not exactly sure why people are bending over backwards to defend AA’s horrible offseason. This team lacked position player depth and rotation depth from day 1, and they knew they needed depth because Acuna and strider were still recovering.

This team didn’t have a single MLB caliber player on the bench for a single day of this season. That is unacceptable for a contender.

The fact the injuries were insurmountable for any team doesn’t change the fact that the depth was nonexistent. It’s a bit baffling people can seriously defend having zero depth.

I would give AA way more slack if he didn’t flat out lie about spending, one. Two, if he would either control twit or fire him. There is no way he can’t see the horrible after horrible decisions this guy makes. And because they keep make these bad decisions then I can only assume is AA is complicit with it.

Or that it's coming from higher up? McGuirk has been here a long time so I could see him being the one that's pulling that string.
