My feelings as well. I don't think the team is toast but given the condition of the rotation until late-August, I can't see them putting together a big-time run. They are 7 back in the WC and there are a lot of teams bunched above them. As long as no one runs away with the last WC, there's still some hope.

Anthopoulos built this team to his specifications. I've been more critical than most with a number of those moves, but I'll admit he's a good GM. As Bowman points out, we don't have anything currently on the major league roster that others will be lining up to get. I could see Ozuna, but there would have to be a bat coming back. There would likely be some demand for Bummer. Right now, I think Anthopoulos is just going to ride it out.

I don't see him selling either. But my thoughts are that's for the fan base, in hopes of keeping attendance up. Feels like there is a large portion of the fan base who is dumb enough to believe the team is still a contender this year.

This simply isn’t true, and I’m not sure why this fat turd is so grumpy lately.

Iggy and Pierce are the exact type of BP arms teams try to acquire at the deadline.

Ozuna is a good option for any team looking to acquire a rental bat.

Murphy is a very valuable long term piece that should get a top 50 prospect, and possibly someone ready to contribute day 1 or 2026.

What exactly does he expect a seller to have available at the deadline? If the team had a bunch of super valuable rental players they wouldn’t be sellers.

PS - taking a $3M gamble in Albies rebounding in 2026 is easily the right decision.

I wish we'd go after alcantara. He'll be back to ace form next season. Maybe Fuentes or AJSS fits their timeline better. No idea what all it would take

True enough, but Anthopoulos' patten has not been one of trading veterans for prospects. Some level of high-AAAA player who isn't ready for Social Security is probably the return on Iglesia and maybe a bit more for Pierce Johnson. Braves could probably get a mid-level prospect for Ozuna depending on who is looking for an upgrade at DH. Murphy could bring in a haul, but if Ozuna moves on in the off-season, he and Baldwin could spend time at DH when not catching.

I just think Anthopoulos is going to stick with his initial plan and assessments.
 
These Boston reporters and pod casters are hilarious. They are all on this Acuna to Boston trade talk. They are even saying they may have to take back Murphy to get him lol. Murphy won't be packaged at all. Acuna is pretty interesting though. Boston has the 1 & 6 prospects in baseball and 1 is an OF and 6 is a SS both with 60 power and 60 hit tool. I know trading Acuna would be a huge fan and PR hit but that trade would set up the window for a lot longer going forward. I think we could get a good 3rd and 4th piece in return also. It's something to think about especially if we know we can't resign him.

Except it’s virtually guaranteed that those players wouldn’t be nearly as valuable as Acuña even together, and we’re trying to contend next year.

With the money freed up sign Tucker. So you'd be replacing Acuna with Tucker and your starting SS next year, and a legit young OF. You could more than likely get Duran back to.

I doubt anyone would trade what it takes to get Acuna, but I would listen to offers on anyone
 
Notice that the only people talking about this are those hoping to get him for a song.

Nobody else is stupid enough to think it’s even a possibility.
