2026 : Around the League

The Braves have a number of long-term contracts that are no longer working for them, and thus could be jettisoned to San Francisco in a Devers deal. Sean Murphy is one possibility. Austin Riley is another, more compelling possibility.
The Braves also have some young arms they could ship to San Francisco to complete a deal. Even one of the injured ones (i.e., Spencer Schwellenbach or Hurston Waldrep) could be a workable centerpiece.

Hey I hear the Yankees need a catcher. Gerritt Cole could be a workable centerpiece.

This is the equivalent of that suggestion. Except Murphy actually has a little positive value, where as Devers is one of the worst contracts in baseball at the moment.

Where is this from? Need to know the source so I can discount everything else they write.

Devers’ stock is low enough that the Giants will be paying either in substantial cash or prospects to get out from under him. They’re likely better off just seeing if he rebounds and trying to make the rest of the team good.

You never know what your gonna need at the deadline due to health. But as is I suspect the Braves target a plus lefty pen arm and kick the tires on any potential #2 starters if their available. I think left is going to sort itself out as I'm still a believer in Yaz.
