2026 MLB Draft Thread

They lost their 3rd and 4th best hitters, and from what I saw last year it was those 4 and trash. Semien is still good defensively but a shell of his former self on offense.

Kiley McDaniel updated his draft rankings today: https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id...ey-mcdaniel-top-50-prospects-ncaa-high-school.

I know we're all frustrated with the lottery still, but if there's good news about picking 9, it's this quote after the top 9 players in his rankings: "The feedback I got from scouts was to keep these nine players so far in the top group of players in some order." Obviously plenty will change and slot values will determine who goes where, but at least good to know.

He has those nine players ranked this way:

Tier 1: UCLA SS Roch Cholowsky
Tier 2: HS SS Grady Emerson
Tier 3: Alabama SS Justin Lebron, UCSB RHP Jackson Flora, Georgia Tech OF Drew Burress
Tier 4: LSU OF Derek Curiel, Coastal Carolina RHP Cameron Flukey, HS LHP Gio Rojas, Virginia OF AJ Gracia

That's strange because Carroll's carrying tool was contact and Kiley describes Burress such that he seems like a free swinger.
I think it's mostly because he's short, plays CF (though not sure if he can stay there ), and has a good amount of power and speed.

Will Gasparino is a guy I hope we watch and take a hard look at. He spent the last 2 years with Texas and transferred to UCLA this year. 6-6 220 and has a lot of good tools. Excellent defender and has some pop.
