2026 MLB Draft Thread

I love the hitting prospects but can’t stand the pitching.
It's not even been 2 months. The pitchers could get hot this month and the hitters could go cold. Such is the game of baseball.

Ritchie and Fuentes are legitimately 2 of the best pitching prospects in baseball. They have both dominated AAA. And we have a few others taking some big jumps in the prospect rankings this year. Cam I would say has leveled off a bit, but he isn't trending down. The only pitching prospects of note that have really disappointed are Murphy, Baumann, and Braun. But again, it's still early. Baumann just had his best start of the season the other day.

A true 3/4 mlb pitcher is typically a top pitching prospect in the minors. Aces are rare
There are a lot of guys who have higher upsides. There are a good amount that have TOR upsides. You don’t project any pitcher outside of the true phenoms like Skenes to be an Ace because probability is against them. Ritchie is ranked where he’s at because of his proximity to the majors and his floor. It’s not because of his upside, there are a significant amount of prospects with higher upsides.

But you don’t rank players solely on upside. So what are you arguing?

This is, objectively, one of the worst takes I've seen.

Your opinion lacks any sort of nuance. Like the fact that Cam is one of the youngest pitchers in A+ ball. Despite the results not being great, his metrics are great. Great K rate, solid BB rate, solid HR rate. It's possible he's been the victim of some bad luck.

If you are judging Ritchie based on his performance as a rookie in the majors, it's hard to take you serious at all. He was nearly unhittable in Gwinnett and his stock is quite literally higher than it's ever been.

Murphy has not been good that is true. Though, there is plenty of data available to realize he doesn't "suck." The fastball genuinely is an elite pitch, sitting at 19" of IVB and another 7-8" of run. I don't know where his control has gone from last year, but there is plenty enough reason to still be high on Murphy.

Bagwell has been great thus far in Augusta. Hernandez has been mostly terrific in Columbus. Sears has been good as well. And that is without mentioning that 2 of our best SP prospects in McKenzie and Sinnard just started their seasons this past week.
I'm not a big believer in Owen Murphy as he currently is. He either needs to get that fastball velocity back up, show elite ability to locate it, or be excellent at changing speeds.

He's been hitting 95 lately. But regardless, the fastball gets elite movement with below average velocity

I was disputing the fact he’s one of the top pitching prospects in the game.
A pitcher can not have as high a ceiling as another and still be a better prospect. Ritchie is a really good prospect. However you want ti debate “top” is whatever but he was safely a top 60ish prospect overall.

I get that but isn’t he coming back from arm surgery not too long ago (seriously can’t remember now). Velo doesn’t always come right back. Ask strider.

I'm fine being patient. I just don't see him being much of a starter without adding something. He might do it. But as is, I don't see him being an MLB starter.

I could see him being an excellent, max effort reliever though.

I can only imagine the level of this that you have had to have in your lifetime reading so....much....Law😭😭😭

I have noticed that the Braves are reluctant to give up on young pitchers and make them relievers.

We on the board, however, seem to be quick to declare that guys don’t have what it takes to be a starter, and should become relievers.

Interesting disconnect between the team and the board.

To support your theory, I submit into evidence Kyle Wright….and the current ace of our staff…
