2028

DeWine beat his opponent in the same election by 25 points. Vance won by 7.

RDS beat his opponent that year by 20 point (a Florida record for a half century). Trump/Vance won Florida in 2024 by 13 points.

I know they are different races, and different electorates (you can spare the bandwidth)... but I'm not seeing this lack of electability that you are assuring me Vance is a force with but RDS lacks

DeWine is as smushy as it gets and is a pathetic rep for the R's but that plays in a state like Ohio during this time sadly. So of course Vance is much more in line with a traditional Republican on social policies will fare worse in the state.

I’m still pretty skeptical on Vance as a candidate. He’s a sharp guy and a skilled debater, but he’s also still kind of ****ing weird and has a punchable face and I don’t know if he can overcome that.

As a dedicated dem voter I’m sure a normal straight white guy would be “weird” to you

He has his normal hair color and everything!

I have lived in the rural north all my life, you think I don’t know what a normal straight white guy is like? Vance is not weird because he’s white and straight. Vance is weird and unlikable in the way Ted Cruz and Gavin Newsom are. He just appears deeply inauthentic and awkward.

Poor little Andrew. The bully picked a fight with a GOAT and now he's off to Romania

RDS don't miss

Just wasting your time discussing anyone but Trump as the Trumpocrats nominee. Anyone who even cares to run for the nomination is going to all of a sudden be labeled a globalist Rino by the felon and MAGA will eat it up

Ain’t no way he gets enough states to ratify an Amendment to undo the 22nd.

Well if various people of good will prevaricated between Harris and Trump it shouldn't be too hard to do the same in the next election no matter who (D) or (R) might be.

Wonder how (D) squanders this golden opportunity…

Pretty easy, really. They continue to spend the next year and a half complaining about Trump himself and not tying it to Congressional Republicans, then party leadership puts their thumb on the scale in the ‘28 primary to nominate an unpopular Senator that’s been around for 20+ years.

I implore sane (D)'s to elevate the Jared Polis' of the party

Obvious I’m not voting for SAS in 2028, but I have been thinking a lot about this, and I do think the liberal media/entertainment bias has led to a lot of the best people at doing politics not being in politics on the left.

For years, Jon Stewart has insisted they aren’t qualified to run the country, but he then consistently gets it right when communicating to the people about situations. Josh Johnson has that same way of communicating where you can see the intelligence behind the comedy and he can help people understand things through his stand-up.

All that said, obviously these folks are better off personally not running America and my choices here are not going to be popular in many circles. But if these articulate, passionate progressive speakers were to move to politics, the left might actually have some talent.
