3/12 Shuster vs Pirates

Harris with an oppo bomb. Wind is pushing to LF pretty good, but still great to see. Gives me hope he can do damage while hanging in vs LHP.

Shuster is now the guy I’m most eager to see mlb statcast data for, mostly to see the shape of the 92-93 fastball and breaking ball. The eye test says the 83-84 charge is very good.

Aaaand now the daily dinosaur in the booth blabbering about how bad the modern game is. “Kids only care about velocity these days”.

Pretty impressive two innings so far. Hard to tell if these are the Pirates starters or backups - they all suck outside of Reynolds.

Shuster looked terrific again today. FYI: averaged 92.6 MPH on his total velo this afternoon, which is up about 1.5 mph from last year

FG prospect page has Shuster with a below average fastball of some variety, a fringe average breaking ball, and plus change. That sounds like a LHed version of Anderson minus a tick or two on the fastball.

No real data to look at, but that seems like a perfectly fine low cost backend option.

Jared Shuster held the Pirates to one run 3 2/3 innings and struck out five in the Braves' 11-3 victory on Sunday.
Shuster's unremarkable fastball has kept him off the various top 100 prospects lists this spring, but he possesses an excellent changeup, a solid slider and a fine track record in the minors. He could be a fine fourth of fifth starter in time, and he should make his major league debut before the year is out.

Makes me feel better with how up in the air Anderson and Soroka are.

Rosario just homered for Puerto Rico. Acuña has looked pretty rough in his first six WBC plate appearances.
