3/26 GDT Newk vs Reds

With Wilson, Wright and Fried getting their shot in the rotation, Julio looking like he may be ready to have a bit of a bounce back season, and Folty and Gaus getting healthier every day, this may be Newk's last chance to keep a spot in the rotation.

Camargo gets the start at 3B in place of JD, Mac in for Flowers, Joyce is still the extra hitter since they are using the DH in an NL game.

Newk pounding the outside edge of the zone early with all 3 pitches. Even his misses are off the plate by a couple inches.

Looks like he doesn't want to get bumped from the rotation.

Good Newk so far.

So far I really like Frenchy in the booth.
Only a few games, but he is entertaining.
Given that baseball- by nature- is slower than say basketball or football, an announcer has to be witty and interesting. Frenchy doing well.

Newk suddenly missing up with everything.

First 2 batters hit 2 long FBs hit off him.

Battled well to K some LHH.

FA sitting 91-93, which is a 1-2 ticks below Fried.

He's battling, but I just don't think he cracks the rotation once Folty, Gaus, Soroka, Wright, Fried, and Wilson are all healthy.

That ball Farmer hit out was up and away out of the zone where Newk typically misses with his FA.

Hey, at least it wasn't a BB though.

I can see how Riley's long swing could lead to him being a guess hitter susceptible to being streaky when he guesses wrong.

Time to see how Wright r4esponds to his terrible outing.

Buzzes the tower at 95...gets groundout at 96.

Showed the slider in, then got another groundout at 96.

Weak chopper to 3b on a first pitch slider.

That's how you handle the Reds scrubs. I expect Wright's downer stuff to produce a lot of grounders this season.
