The Braves are the 3rd best team in baseball at making contact so far. Only the Indians and Tigers have a lower swinging strike percentage.

Interesting stat but to be fair, we havent really faced any top notch pitchers, yet....

Mets announcers: This is a completely different Braves team. Last year you always find somewhere to go for a strikeout. Not so this year.

I chuckle everytime someone would argue that making contact isn't the most important thing. If the contact is singles then so be it. Preferably we would want XBH but the most important thing is to make the pitchers earn their outs and not throw AB's away because you are trying to hit the ball 450+ feet.

I've been enjoying the hell out of this opening week. Huge for the organization and fanbase to get off to a good start. I'm a worrier by nature though, so indulge me in my low-sample-size list of concerns . . .

- Our top 3 RPs have been great, and they figure to be solid if healthy. After that, I fear our luck will run out soon. Jaime is Jaime, and I think the league will adjust to Cunniff. We can only hide McKirahan for so long.
- I've been really happy with how Jace looks on defense. At the plate vs LHP though, he looks really overmatched. This situation may turn into a straight platoon.
- Markakis is likely still building strength, but I'm nervous about the lack of power in his bat. I think he may be headed for a 0.350ish SLG% this season.
- We're currently 6th in MLB in BABIP. I don't think we have good enough baseball players to sustain this for long.

Just watched hte game today. How was Teheran left in after he walked Cuddyer on 4 pitches? Just stupid. I understand giving him an AB to see if he can fight through it but wow.

A Fredi low point in a lot of ways, which is really saying something.

While I dont agree with everything Fredi does, this could benefit the player-manager relationship down the line. Fredi puts trust in his ace to get out even if he knows he might not have it anymore. I'm sure Julio took note and will work harder not to let that situation happen again.

Maybe Fredi doesn't want Julio to get mad about taking him out like Huddy was crying about.

I would agree under different circumstances (Teheran in trouble instead of possibly hurt).

This is the most important thing, huh?
