These things will work themselves out. Its just an experimental year for the most part anyway.

You make it sound like there has never been anyone one organization has let go of a player that hasn't turned around.

Dodgers never gave Victorino a look at the OF he must not have been good. Josh Hamilton? Dan Uggla? Joakim Soria? Joey Bats? Johan Santana? RA Dickey? Grilli? Could go on with successful rule 5 draftees
 
I'd like to see Markakis hit a ball hard. I would even admit his lack of power thus far has been concerning.

The list of successful Rule 5's is a lot shorter than the list of discards that remained discards. That doesn't mean Graham won't be successful and that the decision not to protect him won't turn out to be a mistake, but your reasoning doesn't really hold up.
