4/29... vs brew crew

Younger than Adonis. But both are at an age where some decline becomes the most likely outcome.

Agreed. Just need third base not to be a black hole. I think Solarte could do that for another 2 years that he is under contract for.

He's been doing the job in a tough hitting environment. So the same argument that applied to Kemp applies to him in terms of the likelihood being that his offensive numbers will improve if he moved away from San Diego.

His contract is team friendly. I especially like the fact that 2019 and 2020 are option years. This limits the downside for the team.

I think the missed opportunity was not going and signing Justin Turner... Not sure if he was willing to come here, of course, but 4 yr $64m deal is a great value for him, IMO

That's fair. He could have pushed us to contender status. Guy is legit but I think he's a west coast guy and didn't want to leave. Can't force him to sign.

He wanted to stay in LA. We would have had to kick in some sort of premium.

Do you think that's enough? At a certain point it's monopoly money not sure if Turner was ever signing elsewhere.

I have no idea but I'm imagine an extra $2M a year and still being able to live in LA during offeseason and not having to pay LA taxes would matter.

I hope we at least offered... I never heard us connected to him. but he is a stud

"Folty how did you feel about the bullpen's strong work the last 3 innings to help get you that win?"
"Well you know we protect each other on this team, in this locker room. It's just guys going out there and protecting each other"

"Freddie, what has Kemp brought to this team and lineup when he's hitting as well as he is?"
"Well I mean he's brought over an attitude of protecting his teammates you know. I think the guys in the locker room see that type of leadership and we're all looking out for each other"

"Snit, what did you think of Bartolo's ejection for throwing at Harper?"
"Well you know it's just baseball. He's out there protecting his teammate from yesterday. The guys are just out there everyday protecting each other on that field".

right now we are 2 games below .500...entirely consistent with the pre-season consensus around here regarding what kind of team we have

I'm aware of that. It's just odd that we keep having these 5ish game win streaks and 5ish game losing streaks to be that type of team. Usually that isn't how a team plays .500 ball.
