5/10 TUESDAY MINORS THREAD ... Rome blows one in 9th

Swanson with a triple on a ball that he sliced down the RF line, landed right near the RF line just out of reach of the sliding RFer. Perfect 4-4 so far thanks to the pop up double where Bourn and the shortstop crashed into eachother knocking ball loose (ruled a double).

Ruiz must be starting his bad month, 0-4 again tonight with an error. If he stays so streaky like last year, we can play "Cold as ice" as his walk-up theme song. JK.

Ellis with a good game.. I would like him to throw more strikes still.. but you can't complain about the results.

Povse with a battle tested game.. he gave up more hits than normal but finished with a good start.. 7ip/7H/2ER/ZERO bb/7K... Just continues to impress me..

Touki needs to continue the solid starts.. if he can start to control his stuff, he will be ACE level easily..

Ruiz has been awful and his error really hurt his team tonight.. was big part of the 7 run inning when it could have been a double play...

Here's a shot of him legging out a double.

Unfortunately, they did change his double to an error on the SS.

he had a high BABIP and high k-rate during his hot streak. still lots to prove.

He's at 28.5% Ks now. He's never been higher than 19.5% in a full season league in the minors, so hopefully that comes down. His walk rate is also a little low for his career.

Doing a quick glance at the International League rosters, Ruiz is the youngest player in the league (a few months younger than Durham SS Daniel Robertson) and he didn't have a banner 2015, so it's pretty obvious the Braves are pushing him aggressively. I don't know if that's a good strategy or not, but I think people need to cut him a bit of slack seeing he's in a league with guys a lot more experienced than he is. As per the K and BB ratios, as I stated yesterday about Davidson, this is kind of normal for guys as the quality of pitching improves. The only difference with Ruiz is that he's never been a high K guy, so I expect he'll adjust some.

Ruiz is younger than Albies?
