Riley seems like a guy who is periodically going to struggle with his swing getting too long, either due to bat wrap or front arm bar. This exact lack of contact was his issue early in his career, but back then he was also chasing bad pitches at a horrid rate.

I’m confident that as long as the chase rate stays respectable Riley can tweak his swing to shorten it up when he gets in funks like this. I do, however, get a Dan uggla vibe from Riley, but that is based on nothing other than the type of hitter I perceive both guys to be.
