5/15: AJSS and the ROY batting second in the Business Man’s Special

AJSS always had big potential and we are finally starting to see it. A lot of guys have it or had it but it never materialized. Baldwins contact skills are crazy. I wish we could have him batting 2nd when Acuna gets back.

I would love to see Kimbrel. Either way, I think Los Santos, Blewit, and Montero are playing for their jobs right now. Kimbrel will likely replace one of them soon enough.

Agreed, and I think it’s between DLS and Montero as Blewitt can go multiple innings which makes him valuable with Holmes still in the rotation.

Did you ever think you would be asking this question?😭
By August I suspect this question is going to look silly. When Acuna gets back Ozzie will rake like you’ve never seen. He’s like Ozuna’s lucky teddy bear or Cerano’s Jobu for Ozzie.

Drake Baldwin last 30 days 44 AB 4 HR .476/.500/.810 which amounts to a 264 RC. Holy shit. Murphy needs to be the short side of a platoon

edit - Baldwin has a 62% hard hit rate? MLB average is 36%. Even if thats 80 at bats that is some freakish shit. Put this dude behind Acuna in the lineup and I think runs will be a scoring.

would an org trade a player they just signed to an extension in the middle of a contention window? seems like bad mojo to commit to a player to help the team win and then trade them while you are still winning...

Murphy is still an elite catcher. Ozuna probably isn’t coming back. There is zero reason to trade either catcher when the DH spot is about to open.

Plus, this a great problem to have. Having two great catchers is a luxury we can afford. And, we’re sitting here struggling to score runs and we’re trading one of our good bats?

None of that makes sense.

With the depth issues we have had it may not be good to let Ozuna or Murphy go. Catcher is probably the one position you can justify having two starter caliber players. Also a position most likely for a freak injury. Worst case scenario we have atleast one good bat coming off the bench for a critical PH.

and a manager that knows how to properly deploy him as well... Hint twitner... doesn't always have to be in the 9th inning you stupid moron.

I'm struggling to see the appeal of Kimbrel and his .346 xwOBA in AAA. Is it his 92.7 mph fastball that's so attractive? Or the 4.91 BB/9 rate so far in the minors?

Which of those pieces of data is most exciting?

It’s the 2014 style manbun for me

Yeah as long as they are both playing. I just don't have much faith in Snitker to get both in the lineup in creative ways.
