5/17: where's the offense? Red Sox rubber game

Honestly. This has been an exceptional start to the season. We lost one series all year. And we were in every game we lost in the mariners series. I think if you said going into this season with series against the mariners, dodgers, Phillies, cubs guardians and red sox who all made the playoffs that year that we would be 16-7 vs them. Every single fan here would be shitting themselves. And to do that with acuna getting banged up, Riley being impotent, Murphy being a non-factor, and outside of elder and sale out starting pitching being meh, you wouldn't believe me.

I think everyone is still pumped. And rightfully so. He's showing he is an .800ish OPS hitter again. I don't think anyone was fooled into thinking the 900 OPS was gonna last. But Harris with an .800ish OPS is a 5 war player with his defense.
I don't understand why people are so negative on Harris and Albies. If they're not terrible offensively, they're good players. Especially for their cheap contracts. On CF Contracts in AAV Harris is 10th and Albies is 16th, the value we're getting from them is crazy,

I don’t think anyone is seriously down on them- it’s just the usual GDT bitching - except for perhaps one person- bottom line, those two are big time assets.

It's just frustrating that a crappy approach is the only reason they aren't among the elite at their position
Crappy approach is what got them to the bigs. Sometimes you ahve to realize that the ceiling for some guys just isn't as high. THey're not Acuna, they're not Riley, they're not Olson. THey won't be MVP candidates. But they're signed to reasonable contracts for what they produce. Sure you wish they would be better. BUt sometimes you have to accept what yo u have and value it appropriately. Albies is a 29 year old 2B worth 2-4 WAR. who we're paying 4 million dollars to and can pick up an option to pay him 7M next year, then let him leave if you think you can replace him or try to extend him if you think you can't. He's not a corner stone but he's a solid player worth 10-30 million who we're not paying close to that. Harris has a slightly more premium contrac,t but with that he brings higher upside. mainly in his age. HE can do some work to improve and I'm sure coaches are working with him on it. But it's not the end of the world if he's a consistent 2-4 WAR player. He can be basically done after 2030 if he starts diving, or we have him for 2 reasonable options for age 30 and 31 season

Especially Harris. Ozzie is a zebra with stripes. Outside of injuries, he’s managed to have a good career with his flawed approach.

Harris was borderline unplayable the last two years.
