I wonder why McDowell gets a free pass from posters

Because up til this point, his body of work has proven to be a top 5 if not top 3 pitching coach in the game. Only concern through his tenure has Ben the alarming rate of injuries, but whether McDowell is directly responsible for that or not can't be proven. Some of it is bad luck.

But I must admit something is "off" this year. Granted the talent pool is less and younger, but still it's been a huge disappointment so far this year for our really one one supposed strength going into the year.

Some of it could be pressure of trying to perform and win on a bad team, but the McDowell reclamation specialities like Harang, Carpenter, Sheets are not doing well this year (Stults, Cahill, Johnson). It might be McDowells fault or our evaluation of those guys weren't spot on.

Nonetheless, Rogers body of work has shown otherwise, so we will see what he can do going forward with some of the higher upside arms that have yet to reach the majors.

His body of work is Fredi's body of work -- not advocating either be fired but to my mind they are joined at the hip.

For the record the Braves BP has not been the same since Ventors went down. And the starting pitching has been hit and miss. Let's not miss the point that pitching coaches make most all the pitching decisions --

Word is Teheran threw too many #2 and #3 pitches against the Nats with a 9 run lead. A veteran catcher and the pitching coach from heaven and, that is what happened ?
Something doesn't add up

...

last year when Minor was struggling it ws reported he credited Ervin Santana for getting him straight

Minor
Jair Jurgens
Beachy
Medlen
Hanson

grounds for a class action law suit there

....

I don't doubt for a second these are things that happen in MLB - but adding them all up and coming up with Fredi is the problem is baffling ------ being kind
