5/21/16 SATURDAY MINORS FINAL.... Dealing Four Aces Tonight

Some observations from Mobile:

Sean Newcombe: His theme song should be either "Walk This Way" or "Born to be Wild". Six walks says it all. It is amazing that after he walked the bases loaded with no outs in the second inning, he got out of it with no runs scoring. He also allowed back to back triples in the first, though the first was when Dustin Peterson missed on a diving attempt. He did show flashes also as to why he's a prospect. But, he has to get those control problems worked out.

Jason Hursch: First time seeing him and he looked good. Liked his velocity, though I can't tell you what he was throwing since the stadium doesn't have a radar gun in fan view.

Dansby Swanson: What else can you say? The kid is good. His three hits went the opposite way. Even two of his out were balls hit well.

Dustin Peterson: Great night for him as well, driving in a couple runs.

Jacob Schrader: Watching him just tonight, looks like an all or nothing hitter. A couple pops in short RF, but hit an bomb in left center for a homer.

I don't get why we have all of these high ceiling arms... But cannot get them to curb the control/walk problems at all. Honestly I don't think we do a very good job of developing hitters or pitchers. I know we've always been a pitching developing team, but we haven't done a great job in a long time.

I think it's at least an area concern, given the rebuild is sort of premised on developing these guys.

I also enjoyed this response to Jon's tweet:

@JonHeyman @MiLB @LieutenantDans7 @mbraves Swanson is actually good at defense, Jon.

I prefer this one

@MiLB @sportsandra In 4 yrs Swanson won't be playing for the Braves, bc they won't want to resign him, unless we have huge TV deal in place.
