If Kelly falters today, his spot comes up next on Saturday. Tyrell Jenkins would be on regular rest Saturday, and he'd be pretty safely past the Super Two cutoff. With that said, hoping Kelly can do well and build some modest value.

Didn't yesterday Philly try to copy our Pitcher 8th Position 9th lineup?

What is Snitker doing? Ender has rotated between leadoff and the 6 hole in the last 3 days.

Actually I've often thought of 6th as a second leadoff spot. A guy with some speed and on base skills makes sense there since they have a chance to be driven in by the next two guys before you get to the pitcher. A speed guy at 8th makes no sense. Which is why Mallex in ninth is better than 8th. But not optimal imo.

Using the group in today's lineup I would go as follows:

1. Mallex
2. Beckham
3. Freeman
4. Markakis
5. D'Arnaud
6. Inciarte
7. AJ
8. Castro
9. Kelly

And unfortunately hasn't really hit in any of those spots. Another month of this and I'm going to begin worrying that his great year with the bat last year might be more illusory than indicative.

Heaps of hard-hit balls against Kelly so far.

Beckham's relay-throw on that triple was bad enough it probably deserves a benching. That was inglorious as hell—and a good throw gets the runner.

Wow, Markakis with no sense of urgency chasing that ball into the corner and Galvis turns it into a hustle triple. Hmm.

Based on early impressions, I can't say I really comprehend why the team went with Kelly over Gant when they decided who to try out in the open rotation spot.

Joe Simpson is just a glorified homespun-excuse factory these days.
