5/28/15: GDT - Atlanta Braves @ SF Giants *NOT Dodgers* (Cunningham gets a start!)

I'm just not sure why Braves fans are suddenly souring some on Peraza. The guy is a legit prospect. There's no one right now who is wondering if he can be a good major-league regular in the future.

I don't know that "Braves fans" are—I've just personally always been a bit skeptical of Peraza as a prospect, at least as far as offense is concerned. Empty averages scare me, especially from up-and-comers. So, yea, there is at least one person (me) "wondering if he can be a good major-league regular in the future", because a .296/.335/.384 (for instance) is a difficult line to carry at 2B if your team is offensively deficient at SS, C, and 3B as well (not to mention carrying a power-sapped RF).

I still think we might have to wait till Baltimore before Markakis hits his first homer, unless we play in Colorado first? That's another place he could find some homerun power.

Well, if you're right it's good to know we have Peterson for second base just in case. :)

It's definitely one of the many reasons why I think they shouldn't rush Peraza to Atlanta.

Which is not to say I don't think Peraza is a good prospect: I just have a few concerns that prevent me from thinking he's the slam-dunk a lot of posters view him as.

I wonder where Peraza would rank right now on prospect lists. Some graduates + good season by Jose will bump him up. Some will consider him top-20, no? He has a really good bat and is 21.

Not a good read by Markakis. Pulled up too soon when he really wasn't that close to hitting the wall.

Yea, he slowed up early there I thought. Plus at full speed he is slow enough.

We'd be better defensively if Cunningham or Maybin were in RF and Markakis was in LF.

Letting him chill in the minors is good for everyone, really. Get a really good idea of what you have in Jace and let Peraza have a full upper-minor season because he's just 21.

Yep, if he was quicker he would have made it to the spot and been able to sneak a peak at the wall. Definitely another play where his range hurts us out there.

If we are going to be a playoff team next year, Markakis needs to move to LF if not traded.
