5/29 GDT: Pesky Gnats vs Braves

Is there a rule that I don’t know about saying it is illegal to start someone off the bench. Has anyone checked on Clutch/camargo or Joyce to make sure they are still breathing.

Tonight it's the Atlanta Braves Longball and Big Fly Show, starring Ronald Acuna, Josh Donaldson, and Austin Riley.

I'm predicting 3 Braves homers.

Camargo got 2 starts in the Giants series, and Culberson and Joyce one each.

They also got some starts in April.

Wonder if you combine all three of their plate appearances up at the end of the year if it would equal 500. And everyone was hoping camargo would get 400 by himself.

They are on pace for about 600.

Camargo would be getting more, but he hasn't hit well so far this year and Riley has been red hot. That's baseball.

But I think we should expect to see Markakis and Donaldson get about 1 game off per week. Should allow the bench to keep somewhat sharp. Plus there will be more injuries at some point.

Hope it was clear I wasn’t too serious about the 500 number. More in jest to empathize my point that we had what looked to be a stronger bench to start the year that has been under utilized imo.

I also agree Johan slow start has contributed to lack of playing time but I also wonder if lack of playing time helped contribute to his slow start. At this point it is worth just sticking him back in AAA since he sucks so bad. He can go down and suck on those juiced balls in AAA and see if anything comes from that.

I'm inclined to think Johan's slow start is just a slow start. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

I know it worked for Mike Remlinger, but maybe La Camargue’s tobacco use is part of the problem?

Be nice to see us be very patient and get Anibal out of there by the fourth inning.

I’m not sure he’s not just as bad as their pen—but I’d like to see the Braves knock him out early to find out.

(I’m fully aware, having said this, he’ll now throw a CGSO.)

Camargo hasn't hit, and everyone he could possibly play in place of has hit.

He just isn't as good as a lot of folks around here were fooled into thinking he was. I explained it several times as it was happening.
