I'm not sure why it's so hard for them to figure out that they should just try to win all games.

Maybe they could hire you as a high powered strategy genius to make them less stupid? If someone as smart as you tells them not to swing at bad pitches, to swing at good pitches, and to win every game, that would make all the difference in the world.
